and the story continues. . .
After finishing book one of the Twilight series I had to run out and buy book two. Once again Meyer's creats charactors that won't let you put the book down. I find more depth to the story each time that I read it. And it is one that I keep picking back up. Although, this is not my favorite Twilight book it deffinatly is not disapointing.

Not the sequel I hoped for
I read Twilight two days ago. It was delicious and addictive and I couldn't wait to read the sequel. I read New Moon yesterday. While parts of New Moon were immensely enjoyable, overall I was disappointed. The parts with vampires were few and far between. I almost put the book down out of boredom 200 pages in. I honestly think that at least 300 pages (half the book) consisted of Bella being depressed. Since I read books to escape, not to live in someone else's depression, this was a great disappointment for me. Halfway through, I actually started flipping the pages to see if anything of interest was ever going to happen. Much of the time, it seemed to me that Meyer was just killing time. I wish her editor would have pruned some of the whining. The end was interesting and satisfying and re-captured some of the magic of the first book.
So, will I read the next book? Yes. I am not sorry I read New Moon, but I felt the absence of vampires really detracted from the book. This was not a vampire book at all, it was mostly a book about Bella, and the vampires were a large part of what was interesting to me in the first book.
If you have not read the first book, I would not bother with this one.

Bella needs to step this up a notch, pronto!
Edward treats Bella like an object, like a doll. He wants to protect her and she wants to climb up in his lap like she's an 8 year old.
How can a relationship work without any equality. She's not his child (although she acts like a helpless child at times) which makes
their relationship so unromantic. She's sarcastic one minute and then fainting from the touch of his lips in the next. I thought it was
so repetitive to listen to their undying love for pages and pages.
Bella and Edward:
"You know I'll never leave you, I'll love you forever, I can't live without you, I can't be away from you, Please don't leave,
I really want to change into a vampire for you but I'm grounded right now, on house arrest, so I better get going"
"Oh, you want to get married before I change into a vampire?..well that didn't work out so great for my parents...but...
I will live forever with you by my side as immortals and of course be expressing my undying love to you 20 times a day for eternity..
but marriage might not work out"
Ok she's 18 now....Here's what I think.. Just move out, get married, turn into a vampire already and have some sex, come on! Let's see what kind of person Bella is
when she's finally in a position not to be cradled and protected by Edward and his family. Let's see her strong and graceful and no longer clumsy.
I want to see her personality change from being so emotional to being a woman who's got a spine. I want to read what the transformation is
like from her perspective. What she experiences, all the new powers she has, what she can do with them. That's interesting. Then she can go
see how she feels about Jake, as a vampire!

How love can make or break you
Heart break is a story that can be told different ways. The recovery and strength from a heart break can change the person and story. This book is a story of how love can make a person do things they normally wouldn't and how is prevails in the end. If you are a reader who roots for the main characters this is a book you have to read, but only if you read the series. Stephenie Meyers is a very good story teller and is able to use words to bring you into the story and feel the same emotions as her characters!
