- DON'T BOTHER
- This book is stupid. The characters and plot line are shallow, whining, and predictable. Don't waste your time.

- Let Down
- After reading and loving Weisberger's first two novels, I had very high hopes for this one and boy, was I disappointed. I'm still looking for some meaning to the title in regards to the story, but at the same time, I really don't care. The plot was utterly predictable, but what bothered me more was the fact that I was counting down the pages until the ending rather than worrying if any of the characters would succeed or fail. Read this if you haven't read her Weisberger's other novels, but if you have, you may just want to wait for the next one.
Keep trying, Lauren! I have faith in you. - 2008-08-23, 1 of 2 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Is she serious?
- This is by far one of the worst chic-lit books I've read. I loved Devil Wears Prada, I even liked her second book, but this?? There is no way this book would be published without the first two. Bleeh!

- product placement
- The story reads like a Bravo reality show with all the product placement. I have to wonder if Lauren Weisberger is getting paid by all the names she mentions in the book. It reminds me of Marilyn Keyes' book "The Other Side of the Story" where literary agent JoJo Harvey jokes about getting sponsorships for some of her authors to mention products in their story lines. In Marilyn Keyes' book JoJo laughs it off saying that authors are above this, but makes me wonder if Lauren pocketed any extra dough.
The story itself is cute, but predictable. If you are a fan of chick lit it is something you have read a thousand times before and there is nothing special about these characters. - 2008-08-20, 2 of 3 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Should Have Quit While She Was Ahead
- Without the cachet of Vogue or Anna Wintour attached to the work, the author is not all that interesting. The success of her first effort had nothing to do with her writing or storytelling. People just wanted to get behind the doors of the most glamourous magazine ever and get an inside glimpse of its famous editor-in-chief.
I will say that Chasing Harry Winston is better than the author's second book, which is said to have been on the NYT bestsellers list. Not many read it or even knew about it because it really wasn't publicized. Even the publisher knew it was not good. I guess that's why they are advertising it on the back cover of CHW. Better late than never for getting it out of their warehouse.
I have read this three (sometimes it's four) friends in the city before, and I have read better. I really didn't like any of the characters. They were all spoiled and had a sense of entitlement that is off putting.
The author should have taken her cue from the two who wrote The Nanny Diaries, followed by two failed novels, and quit while she was ahead. - 2008-08-18, 1 of 2 people found this review helpful, Rated:
