best on the short game
I am new to golf but after a few years really understand the importance of the short game as I see most of my score evaporate within 40 yards of the green. Although David Pelz has developed a system that makes sense and most likely works you have to spend a lot of time getting to that point. That said, he gives more useful information about how to play the short game than anything else I have read. The book is a bit repetitive but I think that is his way of bringing the point home. As an engineer I can appreciate his use of scientific methods to show how certain clubs hit a certain distance will go to the pin. It is this kind of information that I can take to the course. I will not live long enough to use his 3x4 system as I would have to golf daily for hours to build up his prescribed data base! I have read and reread this book 4 times or more. I quess that is why it is called the short game BIBLE. It would have gotten 5 stars if the photos were better and more current as well as more of them.

Best in class for short game improvement advise
Dave Pelz has provided the best in class advices for improving short game for all level of golfer. After reading and practicing step-by-step techniques given in this book. I have a much better understanding of short game and how to improve them. Although it is a thick book (as a text book), but I do enjoy reading and learning from the book very much.
I strongly recommend this book to a serious golfer who would like to improve his short game skill. I just love the book!

Bad science
The good:
A lot of information and opinion about the short game in one place.
The bad:
Bad science. Example: a table (Figure 2.8.1, p. 20) showing data results expressed to tenths of a percent, based on a sample of five players!
Inflated. The useful information could have been presented in about 10% of the book's 429 pages.
Flagrant salesmanship. Items offered for sale include The Pelz Report, Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools, Dave Pelz Scoring Game Tour, and thirteen different "learning aids."
Shameless self-aggrandizement.
Not user-friendly. Example: no index.
