- This book is a great book that everyone should read. My husband purchased it for us and after reading it we purchased six copies and gave one to each of our grown children. In addition I purchased a copy for my brother. It offers a lot of straight forward advise on life. An excellent and easy to read book!

- Wooden: An Inspiration
- Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court is an insightful piece of literature that will leave its readers feeling inspired and emotionally stimulated. John Wooden's ability to poignantly apply intellect, compassion, and spiritual strength to evaluate complex issues while remaining true to his core values is a competency lacking in many of us today.
I highly recommend this book and have bought several copies as a gift for friends and family. - 2007-01-11, 1 of 1 people found this review helpful, Rated:

- An amazing inspiration
- John Wooden is a motivational icon for a reason. While basketball coach at UCLA, he won ten national championships in twelve years. What's more, he did it the "old-fashioned way," by focusing on establishing his team's character.
This book is not an autobiography, but a collection summarizing Wooden's overall philosophy. Each short excerpt (about a page or so) discusses principles he learned as a child, things he learned along the way, and various aspects of his definition of success.
While this book is perfect for any basketball coach, it really can be applied to anyone in life. Wooden was not concerned with basketball details, even as a coach. He defined success as doing everything you can possibly do now to be your very best, and he stressed this with his players. Wooden's attention to detail and commitment to hard work helped inspire his players to achieve success both on and off the court.
You will love reading this book! - 2006-10-11, 3 of 3 people found this review helpful, Rated:

- I didn't know much about John Wooden and his 10 basketball championships. After reading this book, I realized why he won those championships. Wooden reflects on his experience as a coach and also what he learned from his dad. The thoughts presented in this book are timeless. I have read this book more than 10 times and still look forward to read it. Just reading Wooden's philosophy makes me feel better. It changed my outlook towards life.
