Average Customer Rating: Recommend

The DietMinder is a deluxe food diary with plenty of room to record quantities and food counts (calories, fat, carbs, protein, etc.) of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Used it to cultivate awareness about my eating habits
Time of reckoning. I couldn't understand why I was feeling lethargic, gaining weight, and having crazy cravings.
I'm a vegetarian and I slipped into lazy eating habits, eating a lot of processed foods. Sure it was vegetarian but it still wasn't healthy.
Having to track everything made me realize I wasn't drinking enough water, and too much coffee. I was getting half the protein and fiber I should. Not remembering to take my supplements and medication. Not eating enough veggies or fruits.
And, head hanging, perhaps a little too much wine. Sigh. I had slipped off with my regular exercise/activity.
You can't lie to yourself when you're writing it down.
It's been a great tool to honestly look at what I was eating and cultivating awareness of how I should and could, improve.
I'm eating a healthy diet again and it's rekindled my interest in cooking. As a single person I need to motivate myself every now and then.
I think it's a great tool for anyone who wants to learn more about a healthy diet, to see the reality of how you're treating and using your body.
It helps create motivation and you can track and record your success. There is a list of great websites that are very educational. www.nutrition.gov I found to loads of resources and links.
Good luck in meeting your goals.

Diet Minder Personal Food & Fitness Journal
The journal is perfect for keeping track of everything you eat. There are columns for calories, fat grams, carbs, proteins, fiber, etc. There is also a section to list physical activity. It's a convenient size. I wish they would include information on more foods than they list in the back of the book. All in all, it is a very good tool for recording and reviewing your progress as you diet.

An excellent common-sense tool for monitoring diet, fitness and weightloss
I purchased this book in order to become more focused and organized in my weight loss goals. I've been using it for almost a year it really is the perfect tool for monitoring and tracking your diet, progress, weight and activity. Each day provides you with a page spread that you can use to track whatever you need to track; especially useful for calorie/carb/fat counting. Beyond that, there is a section at the beginning of the book for you to write goals, record measurements and weight, and even include a before and after picture if you want to. It just makes sense & because the layout is so general, it would be useful for almost any diet or plan.

Journal Your Way To Fitness
The spiral bound "Dietminder" is a good tool of choice if you're looking for a handy and convenient way of keeping track of your food intake. While there is a space provided to write down your daily physical activity, it is minimal. Readers wanting some serious space to record exercise should check out this author's other "Bodyminder" book.
Okay. The "binder" starts off with tips for using the journal- and includes a general overview of what's contained on each page (remember, this is a journal filled with pages that are all the same). Essentially, this section shows you how to use the journal. Some dietary web resources you can refer to follow.
Next comes a section on setting your goals, complete with pages for before and after photos of the new you. After this, the pages are all the same. On the left side page are places for you to record your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with columns for calories, as well as fat, carb, protein, and fiber grams. The right side page contains a place for snacks, vitamins, daily grand totals, as well as vitamins, supplements, and medications. A small space for physical activity is placed at the bottom, along with an even tinier spot for miscellaneous notes. All-in-all, there's plenty of room on the pages to write down the things you bought the journal for, and the spiral binding makes it easy to write on because you can flip the pages over for a thicker writing surface!
The book ends with a kind of "wrap up" section that contains favorite food facts (i.e. like the number of calories or fat in common foods), a place to graph records, weekly progress charts to write down info such as your weight and other measurements, and some reference calendars. The last page is a plastic page to store things (no,not your snacks).
As you can see, the Dietminder is a compact little tool filled with all the right spaces to keep track of all the right things. This journal, plus a healthy dose of get up and go, should help anyone reach their fitness goals. Readers who have trouble sticking to a diet or exercise program long enought to see results may also be interested in The Sixty-Second Motivator. Good luck!
