- Excellent for beginners
- I read this book in about 2 days and have built a working database for the web in about 3 days. This book has very good explanations and shows lines as they should basically be. I have only a few programming classes under my belt and no real-world application development and have done it! The database works well, looks great on the web and I owe it all to this book.
It was much appreciated to have the "whys" answered so clearly. I would recommend this book to every php&mysql beginner.

- Great Intro book to PHP programming with MySQL
- I throughly enjoyed the book. Kevin Yank writes very well and makes the book an easy read and gets you excited about developing your own database driven application. It was just the book I was looking for to getting started with PHP and MySQL web development. I wouldn't recommend it for seasoned PHP and MySQL programmers and the book is the on thin side to be of any use as reference, but it's very excellent for beginners. I'll probably invest in a more robust PHP and MySQL web development book in the future.

- OK for Beginners
- If you are anything beyond a beginner, don't waste your money on this book. It is a meager 231 pages, pale in comparison to most books on programming. A more appropriate price would be [less]. Unfortunately, I was impatient waiting for the O'Reilly Web Database Applications with PHP & MySQL to be published, so I purchased this book. I wish I had my [money back].

- PHP for Dumb Me
- I hit on SitePoint while working on a php/mysql project for a degree I am working on. First of all I appreciated that a lot of Kevin's book was already online and that SitePoint decided to share that with neophytes like myself. Kevin has a gift for explaining clearly the theory and also for how to practically get started. I downloaded a number of classes on php during
my project but Kevin's was at the top. This in turn encouraged me to purchase the book. In this regards the ordering and delivery were very smooth even though I live in France.

- Straight Forward and Simple
- I read this book within two hours after receiving it. Kevin's writing style makes it easy to understand the concepts. Implementing what I had I read was a breeze. I am now improving existing client web sites, and creating new ones that have 10 times the functionality. The clients are happier and new ones are coming to me all of the time now.
