Interesting and helpful
I've been reading a lot of metaphysical books recently in the same search as many people out there and this book has touched me in ways that others have not. It is well written and structured in a friendly manner which is helpful when entering unfamiliar personal zones. It also comes with an mp3 disc of a soul song that I've had playing on repeat for the last two days in the background and I've truly enjoyed it there. Dr.Zhi Gang Sha is able to introduce us to a wise & wonderful way of life that many but not all will be ready for,but the others will be welcomed and loved by his writings when they are ready for such thinking.(Note other reviews!)This is a warm and wonderful book.

Spiritual Regression
Sadly, we live in a society that has taught us not to trust ourselves or our own intuitive knowing. Society has established experts in every field, and we allow them to dictate our decisions and direct our lives. This might be a good idea in areas where we have no expertise, such as house or car repairs, but it can be disastrous when our spiritual growth is concerned. Dr. Zhi Gang Sha is presented as not only a medical doctor, but a grandmaster of many ancient disciplines. Unfortunately, his expertise in these areas does not keep him from embracing some of the more backward beliefs common to many established religions.
Dr. Sha's book is repetitive to the point that the reader may feel that they are being brainwashed. It is contradictory throughout. Dr. Sha promises obedient practitioners of his methods "powerful and transforming blessings," but also states that they will have to undergo intense suffering and tests for thousands of lifetimes before they can work their way though the many levels of heaven he claims exist. Dr. Sha employs valueless "circular logic" throughout the book. Just as many followers of various religions claim that their religious book is true because the book itself claims to be true, Dr. Sha wants his readers to believe that the Divine visits him regularly and a new 15,000 year long "Soul Light Era" began on August 8, 2003, simply because he says it's true.
Quantum physics and the many spiritual masters whose teachings have adhered to the perennial philosophy, teach that everything in existence is one thing and equally valuable to the whole. Dr. Sha sets up a system of "levels" that includes levels of personal spiritual virtue, levels and sublevels of heaven, and even a heaven beyond heaven. Like many religions, adherents must work their way up the levels by practicing "secret" methods such as speaking in tongues, doing good works, proving they are obedient and healing their souls and the souls of others. Sha's God, like the God of the Old Testament, keeps a record of every deed humans perform, and demands retribution in the form of Karma, suffering and repayment. Sha claims Karma can be cleansed, but this can be done by only a very few high level practitioners, and it will be successful for only a few "special" individuals (according to Sha's website, this type of healing has a price).
Besides the fact that this book is very poorly written and offers no logical backing for the information that is contained in it, a potential reader may wish to ask themselves whether or not they want to expose themselves to teachings that amount to a variation of fundamental religion. When the reader looks behind the new age verbiage, they will find that Sha preaches a dysfunctional God, a unique book (in this case Dr. Sha's series of books), a "special time period," a laity-clergy class, belief in sin and the need to expiate it through obedience, suffering, good works, rituals, "secret" methods and formulas. The "rewards" offered for obedience are non-specific and allow Dr. Sha to claim that his followers are being blessed even when they are having very negative experiences. When Jesus' disciples spoke in tongues at Pentecost, there was a large group of people gathered in the city who spoke these languages. The people then had the benefit of being able to understand the disciples' message in their own language. Sha claims that if no one can translate the "soul language" he teaches his followers to speak, they should feel blessed simply because they can utter these unintelligible sounds.
The teachings contained in this book smack of the danger signals of a cult. He admonishes his followers to continue practicing his methods even though their friends and relatives tell them they are crazy. He assures them that they are doing a great deal of good for the entire universe even though no one else can see or understand the value. He continually repeats the need for obedience, even when the follower does not understand what they are doing. Sha places himself as a savior-like intermediary that has a direct line of communication with God. He implies that his teachings are directly inspired by God. He claims that practicing his methods confers specialness on his followers. He admits that a rift may occur between those who practice his methods and those who do not, but encourages his followers to feel that this rift proves that they are doing the right thing, and they will be blessed by God for their efforts.
Experts have their place, but it is the foundation of reason to make certain that the experts we open our minds and hearts to offer us something of real value. Does not ring true to my soul, mind, or heart.
Soul Wisdom- Practical Soul Treasures to Transform Your Life
This book is by a bestselling author and `soul expert'. I have read many books on New Age thoughts, many religious philosophies and texts, and many books in which the author claimed to be in direct communication with God, Angels, Advanced Spiritual Beings, or Jesus. And who doesn't want to believe that they can read a book and be connected with divine healing? Based on the title- I thought this was - finally- the exact book I needed.
My enthusiasm however, was short lived. After reading the several introductions, forwards, and prefaces, the reader quickly learns that this knowledge of soul healing has come to the author- and only the author- from the Divine- directly- during the author's seminars on the soul. This reminds me a great deal of the Vegas magicians- but wait- hold on folks- the Divine has a message for you right now! Yes, it seems the author has been selected by the Divine based on how well he lived his past lives. He repeats over and over how he is doing this all to serve mankind, and how much he loves us. Who would question the motives of such a person as being possibly- that of financial gain by selling books and giving seminars- when they tell us so repeatedly that they are just our servants and love us? And of course, if the method fails, there is a lot of room for it being our fault for not doing things properly.
It seems a great deal of what the reader is to learn, is soul language. This sounds good- on paper. Soul language is supposed to be something every soul understands and can relate to. However, at times the author mentions that people not schooled in soul language would need a translator, and at other times he seems to think everyone would understand it. Everyone's soul language is slightly different, only every soul recognizes soul language. You learn YOUR soul language by chanting the number 3396815- in Chinese, as a meditation, saying it over and over and faster and faster until you are speaking gibberish- which is your soul language. I kept trying it, but all I ever got- was Chinese sounding gibberish.
Further, the book, as well as all the books he writes from now on, are loaded with secret messages from the Divine- which have to be used exactly as he states them. They will not work, he warns, in any other manner or with an alteration. He calls these messages `Divine Downloads'. For example, the reader finally gets to the first Divine Download, which reads "Divine Soul Transplant of Divine Golden Light Ball and Golden Liquid Spring of Divine Soul Language from the Divine's heart and soul to your soul. Silent download!"
The book also covers Soul Song (which might provide inspiration, like listening to hymns in Church), Soul Movement (which would be healthy for you), Soul Tapping, and so forth. Despite elsewhere in the book saying various bits were given directly to the author at his seminar, near the end of the book he says the "I received the entire contents of this book in one brief transmission or "download" from the Divine."
There is no doubt that this book contains some wonderful truths. For example, unconditional love, forgiveness, and compassion can bring your soul and your life healing benefits. Doing body movements such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong (or yoga) can bring your body and mind energy, stamina, and vitality. And no doubt that if people sincerely believe this can help them, and that they can learn Soul Language and the divine downloads, they may even be helped. And if it doesn't help you in this lifetime- not to worry, because the author says it will help your soul in other lifetimes.
However, I recommend getting your local Library to get the book for you. If readers spend as much time during the day thinking happy, positive thoughts, and mentally picturing their body as being healthy, forgiving others, releasing anger, and yes, eating a healthy diet with exercise, no doubt they will have a lot of health benefits from that as well. I will give you an often quoted truth, but truth it is- never dwell on a negative or angry thought. Say "NO I won't think this way" to yourself, picture a light switch turning the opposite way, and think of anything positive instead. And save your money, especially if you are desperate for healing.

A Useful Book on Soul Level Healing
I found the "Soul Song" mp3 file to have a very emotionally moving and healing chant within it. I recommend hearing the CD first and then read to book. I think this would help the book be understood better. There are a number of books that talk about "empowerments" and "DNA downloads". These kinds of initiations are being shared in many ways now, during this transitional time. This book is similar to those and unique in its own way. It focuses more on releasing the soul song than others, which sometimes only use visualizations or more formalized chants. Each has some value. I am not sure if this book offers enough different from some of the other books with a similar theme. The collection of exercises is fairly unique because of the focus on voicing the "soul song". LIVING IN THE LIGHT by Shakti Gawain has a similar feel for me to this book, but uses visualizations and gentle breathing. THE STARSEED TRANSMISSIONS by Ken Carey is my favorite "download" book, though it contains no exercises. There is a shift in feeling and an attuning to information coming through just following what the book is sharing in present time. The author seems to get into a similar space through methods involving "voicing" and may have something useful for people more attuned to this kind of approach. All in all, the books that help one to connect to higher sources of healing are all useful and this book is a decent expression of this kind of information.

Soul Wisdom, Mystical Mess
As someone who enjoys Brian Weiss, Stuart Wilde, even a little Neale Donald Walsch, my new age mysticism credentials aren't too shabby. But Soul Wisdom is a bit much for me.
The premises of the book are two:
1) There are souls in all things, guiding principles that make the universe work, and lessons life teaches us for which we ought to be grateful.
2) If we chant a number sequence in Chinese so fast that we're no longer coherent, we'll start speaking a mystical Soul Language that puts us in touch with the Divine.
The author should have stopped with point 1.
I don't doubt that there is a Divine. There may well be a way to get in touch with Him, Her or It. But I don't think chanting to the point of incoherence is the trick that everyone's missed till now. Yes, the chanting's fun - I did try it. But I think the peaceful feeling following comes because you've gotten the brain to disengage and aren't saying anything, not because you're suddenly channeling God. Most likely, this Soul Language is mild, self-induced hypnosis.
What's saddening, and maddening, is that this book does contain a lot of Soul Wisdom. The passages on gratitude for the ills life brings are sweetly hopeful, the discourses on the universality of souls are well worth thinking about. But the best of this book is buried beneath a pile of mysticism and "Divine Downloads" of the sophisticated fortune cookie variety.
Some of the reviewers have nothing but positive things to say, positing the author as a spiritual figure who has changed their lives and who will change the world. I'm glad they've had the experience and wish them all the best. But if I had a friend who was looking for a way to work through troubles and find new meaning and purpose, I'd be too concerned about the claims about Divine visits and Soul Language taking him or her further off course to recommend this. Better stick to Dyer and Chopra, or even The Secret.
