Last of the Dogmen
![]() | Average Customer Rating: Recommend Despite an irritating, tacked-on voice-over narration that somebody must have thought was necessary to make sense of the story (it wasn't), Last of the Dogmen is actually a very moving and magical film. Tom Berenger plays a Montana bounty hunter who helps an anthropologist (Barbara Hershey) search for the descendants of a Cheyenne tribe who disappeared in the 1870s. - The best movie I have ever seen.
- I just love this wonderful movie. I have watched it over and over again since I bought it two weeks ago. Tom Berenger is outstandig as Lewis Gates and he and Barbara Hershey is lovely together. What a couple. And Zip, the dog, is great. This is a movie that makes you feel good after you have seen it. It is my all time favorite movie.

- Where have the dog soldiers gone
- Incredible story line and superb acting by Berenger and Hershey! Magnificent scenery and rugged mountains help the story line immensely. Fantastic job of portraying the dog soldiers. If only it were true......maybe somewhere in the mountains.

- Last of the Dogmen
- I'm not one to watch many movies, let alone watch them more than once. This is an exception. The scenery is awesome and the story line always intrigues me.

- Last of the Dogmen - Great Movie!!
- This movie is one of my favorite's of all time! The story starts with a prison bus crash. Three of the convicts excape into the wilderness or Oxbow as it's called in the movie. Tom Beringer plays a bounty hunter/drunk that has all but given up on life since the death of his wife. His father-in-law/sherriff hires him to track down and bring the convicts back. As Beringer is almost ready to catch the convicts, something strange happens and all he finds is signs of blood, a patch off a prison shirt, and a broken arrow. Great plot that combines modern day with "what if?" from historical accounts. A great Native American related film and A must see for all ages!

- I hope they make more Western fantasies
- This is my first and by no means, last, Western fantasy. While the concept of discovering a 130 year old tribe of Cheyenne who are the last survivors of the infamous Sand Creek Massacre is highly unlikely, it made for an excellent storyline. Plus, the director made the film as authentic as possible hiring only Cheyenne actors and actresses for the parts.
