Mini Madness
I have had my mini disk for several years and had initially used it to make backing tracks for my single act. Recently, however, I have purchased a Sony stereo mic and have begun to record "live" performances with it. It is good enough to send direct to CD. I highly recommend this versatile recorder for anyone who needs remote digital recording at an affordable price.

Highest recommendation
I've had my MZ-R37 for several years. I'm a professional musician, working solo (vocals, electric harmonica, guitar, organ bass pedals) or with other musicians. I use the MD to record my/our live performances. I originally had rather low expectations. I just wanted to review the music. Generally I used the output of the sound reinforcement system (tho I made a lot of very good recordings with the included stereo mic). The quality is excellent. I've been able to use many tunes recorded on the MD for CD's. Yes it's THAT good.
I'm not claiming this will replace a full blown Pro Tools studio with Neumann U87's and a staff of Hollywood recording engineers, producers, and such. One can truly do magic with top line gear and a highly skilled production staff in much less time. But many of the MZ-R37's recordings were good enough to be on a CD with these and not embarrass me in comparison. And that's saying a LOT for a dirt cheap pocket size recorder with 1/8th inch input/output jacks.

Excellent Sony Product
This is a portable Mini-Disc player with the capability to record. The unit is very small, but also very sturdy. I believe the body of the unit is metal, not cheap plastic. Do not mistake these for the cheaper Sony portable audio products that seem to be geared for teenagers. This is a sophisticated, well-made device. It comes with a folding headset, Sony Nickel Cadmium rechargeable batteries, remote control, power adapter, and an optical cable. The unit has the capability to recharge the batteries when it is plugged in to an outlet. For recordings, I suggest using the power adapter instead of running on battery power. An excellent Sony product. I highly recommend it if you can find it here or ebay. I have been using and enjoying mine for over 2 years.

Excellent MD player
I got this MD player as my Christmas present. It didn't look very attractive and new, in terms of design. When I started to use it I realized what was hidden under its silver body panel! The sound was amazing (44.1 kHz) and the batteries lived for a good time to enjoy the music (approximately 12h with alkalines).
I take it to school everyday, and swich the batteries every 2 to 2 and a half weeks. I sometimes forget that I have it with me cause it's so light and compact. The Mini Disks are too very light and easy to carry. Once I ran to the bus listening to my MD, and it didn't even skip. I recommend you to buy this product. Even if it's kind of old, it's still good.
Thank you for reading my review. :)
