Planet Frog: Live Frog Habitat is a great way to learn about our friends the frogs. This deluxe, lightweight, plastic frog habitat (15 by 8.5 by 6.75 inches) fits on an end table, yet is roomy enough for one or two frogs (3 inches or smaller). You may want to send off the included form to order a live tadpole or two (100-percent captive-bred leopard frog tadpole — Rana pipiens — indigenous to North America). Clever construction of the molded clear and opaque plastic allows you to see your pet swimming underwater and to observe close-up as the tadpole undergoes its transformation. Above water level, a little island, fake rocks, and plastic greenery provide landscape interest, and a faux rock cave offers shelter. The clear lid, which doubles as a magnifying glass to get a closer look at your frog, has air vents plus an opening to drop food in. You'll need bottled spring or drinking water and food, of course. And, as the excellent 16-page booklet mentions (care and feeding, interesting facts, answers to common questions, and more), you'll want to know that the Rana pipiens tadpoles are shipped only when the temperature in your area is above 40 degrees Fahrenheit at night and below 90 degrees during the day. — Ava Natov

- I bought two tadpoles for this set. Both died. I had bought this set with a grant for my classroom. All it taught my students was death. The tadpoles did not develop at all. Currently we are using the Grow a frog kit. The tadpole has all his legs after two weeks! It is a better set.… More reviews

- I ordered this for my son for Christmas. I wish all of the information had not gotten thrown away because I would have sent it back. I chose to order this one because it was bigger that the aquariums we had found in stores. The aquarium is very flimsy. I am not sure how it is even going to hold water. - Tadpoles arrive late and do not grow
- My daughter recieved this planet frog kit for her birthday in April of 2003. We immediately sent off for the tadpoles. The company informed us that they were out of Tadpoles and we would have to wait until September for them to arrive. In the meantime, my 9 year old opened the habitat and lost the instruction book.
