Freud LM71M010 10-Inch 18 Tooth FTG Thick Stock High Speed Ripping Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor

Average Customer Rating: Recommend

This blade is ideal for high-speed ripping operations in hardwood and softwood. The low tooth count also makes this blade ideal for ripping thick material. It can be used with feeders in single or gang-ripping operations. The ideal working range is 1-1/2" to 3-1/2" thick. Thinner or thicker material may be cut, but some loss of surface finish may occur. Application: Glue Line Joints In Thick Stock (1-1/2" - 3-1/2")…

an excellent rip blade
The Freud 18 tooth blade really gets with the program. I have a considerable amount of 2 1/4 inch Ash to rip and this blade saves me lots of time.

Ultimate Rip Blade
I am a contractor building high end custom homes at Lake Tahoe. I use this blade for ripping thick stock of mostly redwood and western red cedar. The pieces are mostly for exterior window and door trim. I love this blade. It will rip very fast. The motor of my table saw does not have to work very hard either. The sawdust tends to be kind of shaggy and will clog the exhaust port of the saw. I blow the saw out frequently with compressed air. I use a lot of salvaged wood and have occasionally hit a nail. So far the blade is holding up very well. The thick kerf wastes a little wood but the blade is less likely to heat up and warp like blades with thinner kerfs and more teeth. The finish is pretty smooth considering there is only 18 teeth. I prefer a rougher finish for exterior trim anyway because it will hold stain or paint better. Often the surface is too smooth and I will drag the piece backwards on a bandsaw to roughen it and give it a resawn finish.
