- Great But ...
- I have several compressors, but since this is light and runs on 15 am circuits it is the preference for small volume needs such as small nail guns, tires and especially jobs where transporting the compressor is required. It performed almost flawlessly for more than a decade - the exception being cold weather performance - they start poorly (or not at all) when cold. Also, one should be aware that they only produce a limited SCFM and are suitable for only low CFM applications. Example, a framer and helper will easily outrun the production capability of the compressor with one gun.
Now to my issue. On a hot day with poor air circulation the motor start capacitor blew. Since this was the only issue with the tool I decided it made sense to repair. Big mistake. My standard motor repair shop wouldn't touch it. The Emglo repair center wanted an exhorbitant amount for the capacitor ($$). I bought an equivelent capacitor over the web ($$ +s&h) only to have that blow after about a month of use under hard load. The time I spent calling around and shopping for the replacement part far exceeded the value of simply replacing the compressor unit. And of course now I now have low confidence in the reliability.
And this is my big issue with these direct drive units. The advantages of convenience, weight and maintenance free performance come at a price. They are simply not serviceable. Expect a few years of use and then replacement when the first major component fails.

- 11 Yrs. and Still going
- I can't say enough good things about this design. I have several units in daily service with the oldest being over 10 years now. Thst unit has been [everywhere] and back more than once, and it keeps on going. I'm almost going out of my way to kill this thing and it just won't die. I'll never buy anything but Emglo.

DOWN TIME ZIP DAY IN AND OUT YEAR AFTER YEAR ENOUGH AIR TO RUN TWO FRAMERS AT A GOOD RATE OF PACE . THIS IS A TROUBLE FREE LIGHT WEIGHT COMPRESSER THAT WON'T HURT YOUR BACK HAULING IT IN AND OUT OF THE TRUCK DAY AFTER DAY FOR YEARS . BUY IT AND ENJOY THE YEARS OF SERVICE YOU GET .PS ALSO IT WILL RUN ON REG HOUSE HOLD 15 AMP BREAKER AND WILL RUN IN VERY COLD WEATHER . GOD BLESS A AND HAVE A GREAT DAY

- The compressor I've aways wanted.
- I have been looking for a small compressor for my home shop and after an exhastive search I have found it. I will be using it mostly for home project framing and finish nailing. So far the compressor has exceeded my expectations. It features easy to read and use gauges and valves, is light weight and balanced for easy carrying, and best of all, is made in the USA! The oil bath crankcase should provide me with the longevity I am looking for. One minor complaint concerns the lack of a hose coupling. It is a small and inexpesive item but one of those nice touches that would give Emglo better P.R. if it was a standard accessory. Now I feel just like Norm Abrams, if only I had more clamps...
