The only problem with having a hummingbird feeder is, once those hummers know it's there, they get really hungry! Keep them satiated with this nectar. Dissolving instantly in water, the 8 ounces of powder make 48 ounces of nectar in the classic red color. No dyes! No instant nectars!: As a field biologist involved in hummingbird studies in the SW, I can say that red--or any other color--dye is nonsense! NOT needed, quite likely harmful. Also, I question the instant nectar--instructions say it doesn't require boiling. Is there a preservative in it that retards yeast and bacterial growth?
