Calphalon Contemporary Pasta Insert
I have the Calphalon Contemporary pots and pans. This insert will only work for the Calphalon Contemporary collection. It is made extremely well and so nice to have the insert and the pot together so you don't have to get a separate stainer out from the cabinet while preparing pasta. I love it and use it often.

Great Cooking Gear
My wife and I first purchased Calphalon Contemporary Nostick cooking gear about a year ago. We both love them. Not only do they cook evenly and quickly, but they are easy to handle & store. Additionally, clean up is easier then anything we have previously owned.
We purchased some additinal items through Amazon, and received them in less than 5 working days. We are thoroughly impressed with both Calphalon and Amazon.

Great, but...
I needed a saucepan to cook oatmeal in that would let go on the bits that stick to the bottom. Sounds silly, but I love oatmeal and hate cleaning the pan afterwards. This cleans up easily and cooks evenly. I have used it for cooking rice, gravies and other foods that seem to stick and it always cleans up well. Now, for the lid. There is a black band on the inside of the lid and it scrubed off one night recently. I sat down, wrote an email to the company and by the next day, they have a new lid on the way. They asked only where to send it, nothing else. I like companies that stand by the product they sell. So, if you are going to buy from this line, check that black band, it should be between the glass and the metal, not on the inside of the lid. If you have a problem with the product, ALWAYS notify the manufacturer, they will almost always make it right, like Calphalon did for me.

Durable and easy to clean
I have had this pan for awhile now, and it is worth the price. Nonstick is not great for everything--it is finicky regarding utensil use and cleaning, and I find it impossible to brown anything in a nonstick pan. However, for those times you do need a nonstick pan (such as for rice) this pan works well. The pan is very easy to clean. Though I have had this pan for less than a year, I have had other Calphalon nonstick pans for much longer, so I can say that the nonstick coatings are quite durable--they last several years, at least.

I do have two quibbles with this pan: first, the glass lid is not as useful as you might think. Usually when you are cooking, steam quickly fogs up the lid, making it useless to see what is going on inside. However, I do find that the see-through lid is very useful for rice, as it does not fog up when the rice is nearly done, and I can actually look inside to see how much more time the rice needs. Also, fortunately I can say that the glass lid is quite durable; though I was afraid it would break easily, it survives well in a cabinet full of heavy pots and pans.

My second quibble is that the handle is too short; it does not have a nice, balanced feel. However, the handle does stay cool.

All in all, a good nonstick pan suitable for small batches of rice, sauce, and hot cereal.

An Essential for Family of Four or More
This is a big saucepan! I got it for Christmas because I needed a large saucepan shape with a long handle to make pralines. This has become my favorite pot for many things; from cooking pasta to whipping up a large pot of chili on a cold night. The see-through lid is great for monitoring food as it's cooking, and the second loop handle gives stability when carrying and pouring. It is traditional Calphalon quality with a modern look, and I love it!
