Many automatic drip coffeemakers oversaturate the grounds, resulting in flavorless, watery coffee. The Moka Brew aims to avoid fitting into that category by using steam to generate a low-pressure brewing process. The unique design of the Moka Brew makes it stand out next to other automatic drip machines. Instead of pouring water into a tank on the side of this coffeemaker, water is poured directly below a lid that lifts up from the warming plate. When the unit is turned on, steam pressure forces just enough water up a tube hidden in the coffeemaker's frame and through the grounds, which rest in a compact filter right beneath the lid. The result is up to 8 cups of rich and aromatic Italian-style coffee. Stainless-steel heating elements heat water quickly and continue to keep the carafe at the right temperature while on the hot plate. The graduated glass carafe lets you monitor how many cups you've brewed and has a locking lid to safeguard against accidental spills. The Moka Brew comes with 100 paper filters to get you started and is covered by a limited one-year warranty. — Cristina Vaamonde
468-42 Moka Brew Coffeemaker - What does the Moka Brew do that drip coffee makers can't do? It uses natural steam pressure to extract the full coffee flavor rather than just heating water and allowing it to drip down through ground coffee. Like an italian stovetop maker, this electric device employs a similar technique but makes it simpler, foolproof. The water heats in the lower chamber. Then begins to produce steam bubbles which rise to the top of the chamber and push the water down. As the water is pressed down, the only way to escape is through the tubes running up the sides of the machine. Under pressure, the water travels up, through the tube and into the filter basket.

- The Moka Brew is back!
- I am so thrilled to see the Moka Brew is available again. I could not understand why they stopped making it a couple years ago. The only thing that came to mind is maybe some people tried to take out the pot before the pressure was relieved, thereby creating a potential safety hazard...make sure you let it brew completely and don't try to remove More reviews
- Krups Moka Brew
- This design is the BEST home coffee maker. When Krups discontinued it a few years ago, we searched retail outlets to find any still in inventory around the country. A customer relations person at Krups, who happened to use the same coffee maker and so understood, gave us the leads to be successful. It sounded then as if Krups discontinued the Moka Brew because they are More reviews
- Great Coffee Maker, but make sure you are serious about your coffee.
- I have had my Krups Moka Brew for about 3 years now and I still love it. It's the best coffee maker I have ever had. After my 6 month old Mr. Coffee drip machine (with clock/timer, auto shut-off, programmable brew cycles) died a sudden death I set out to do some research before I bought my next home coffee maker. At first I was More reviews
- Much better coffee than a drip machine
- This is not a normal drip-styled coffee maker. It's much more like an old stove-top all-in-one espresso maker where water is heated and steamed through the coffee grounds. And it makes really excellent joe. The inside is all metal and the machine could have been all metal where it contacts hot water except they use a plastic basket More reviews
