Product Description Softened butter is packed firmly into the bell-shaped lid. Cold water is poured into the base of the crock. The lid is placed upside down back into the base of the crock. Soft, spreadable butter may be enjoyed and served right from the crock.

Simply pack the Norpro Butter Keeper’s inverted lid with softened butter, put an inch or so of cool water in the base, and invert the lid on top. Water makes an airtight seal between lid and base, keeping butter soft, sweet, and spreadable for up to 30 days without refrigeration. (You’ll need to replace the water every few days.) Looking equally at home on the counter or at the table, this ceramic crock features delicate blue bands and a handle on top. Love it: We love having spreadable butter right by the toaster. Works great, especially in fall/winter when the house is a little cooler. We tried one from a potter first because we liked the looks better, but it had a lip on the butter dish part that was hard to work around when removing butter and cleaning. butter keeper: This is an attractive, well-made and useful item. Put the butter in the top, add cold water to the base, invert the top and your butter will stay at room temperature (spreadable and easy to handle) and will not go rancid because no air can get to it.

It stays on the counter so it's always readily available and is always at a spreadable temperature.
