- DEWALT SYSTEM VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING
- I totally agree with other negative reviews of the Dewalt 18 volt system. I have owned it since it first came out. I had a recall on two chargers after they melted and nearly burned down my house. Both batterys died in less than 3 months. Dewalt gave me 2 new batterys and chargers (very nice people). But, the batteries don't last, and both died in 12 months of light homeowner use. I've got a Dewalt anniversary edition 12v silver drill. That battery has worked very well for 2 years plus and is OK. The 18 volt battery 2.4 amp hour rating is just average. You can buy a Sears 19.2 volt system for the price of 2 Dewalt batterys, get more juice and all new tools. My Dewalt 18v tools are going in the garbage. These batterys should cost no more than $30 and that's too high. Just a plain rip off. The old razor and razor blade deal. The blades are the battery. Stay away from poor quality Dewalt 18 volt Tools, and this marketing scam!

- It was finally time to replace my batteries
- The Dewalt tool system works very well. The weak link is, of course, the batteries. Mine lasted three years but it was my fault they needed to be replaced. I have a number of friends who have never had a problem, some who use them every day, and others who use them once in a while. The killer of these batteries is temperature. You will kill them if you run them in the summer til they are hot to the touch then try and charge them right away. Or, as in my case, you use and charge them in the cold. They also don't like getting wet. Boat owners have told me they only last a year on the salt water. Last winter I left my two batteries in my unheated garage with one of them plugged in all winter. The one that was plugged in never worked again and the other one only had about half of its capacity left. This was not Dewalts fault. I'm happy to get two new batteries for $99.

- Be careful with De Walt Batteries
- I have about twenty 18 volt tools &eleven 18 volt batteries, half were dead in about a year! For about a year the batteries were great. here was never an issue with the tools.
When I called De Walt for help I got a run round. The "Customer Service" was a joke. They either didn't care or thought I was trying to pull something. "You have a receipt how do we know that is the battery covered? The date on the battery is too old." The date the battery was made is on the battery post. Thus your battery could be 6 months old or more when you buy it. Some were dead when I opened the box.
Be careful. If the battery dies fron use/non use you could damage the battery. This is stated on the MFG. Site/cust problems.
I am buying more because of my tools. Recommend corded tools & look at less expensive brands if you are not a pro. - 2005-10-08, 3 of 5 people found this review helpful, Rated:

- DeWalt DC9069-2 18 volt XRP 2 batt combo pack
- What is to say about replacement batteries. They either work, or they don't work. These worked. There really isn't much else to say about rechargeable batteries!
