Perfect Vacuum
I have had this vacuum for over 7 years. I use it every week to vacuum my bathroom floors, kitchen linoleum and small sections of carpeting. Not once has the unit overheated, lost suction or "just quit working" as so many reviewers have stated.
The drive belt broke after four years of uninterrupted service (and then only because the suction pulled in the corner of an area rug and jammed the mechanism, which caused the belt to snap.)
I ordered a belt online and replaced it myself. Whoever stated that the machine is not user-serviceable is wrong. I've never had any trouble emptying the dust cup, and there are filters on each side that prevent dust from reentering the room.
This is a great machine for picking up pet hair, lint and dust. I'm at the point where I have worn out my original and am replacing it. I am also ordering one for my brother and one for my mother as well. Great vacuum!

Doesnt hold up
I kept this vacuum in the upright postion most of the time. After many uses mainly on kitchen floor only the neck of the base area began to crack. After only 1 yr of use it broke off completely. I am not hard on my vacuums and have had the eureka smart boss for 4 years. I love that vacuum. Im going to try the eureka floor vac next for my kitchen. Do Not buy this item if you dont want to replace it year after year.

Hoover Stick Vacuum
I am so impressed with this little light weight vacuum. We have a up stairs with hardwood floors though out the house so I have throw rugs everywhere. After this little vacuum get done you would think that the rugs had been washed. Also it pickes up all the pet hair on the floors. Really a gem!!

NOT QUITE AS QUIET
This vacuum is not quite as quiet as some of the earlier reviews indicated, sadly. It would still scare the dickens out of the cat. My previous vacuum sounded like a jet plane taking off. However, this stick vac does pick up a lot of stuff. Shipping from Pennsylvania to Virginia was super quick!!! I would recommend the manufacturer be very very honest about the noise level this vacuum produces. It isn't as loud as a jet plane, maybe a little piper cub?

Died quickly
I bought this vacuum for my small apartment with all wood floors. At first the product worked well: it cleaned maybe 85% of the dust and dirt off the floors and spread the rest around, but it was good enough for $50.
Soon, the suction stopped being as effective, the brush meant to clean carpets was riddled with hair that I could not remove, and the filter - which I emptied every time I cleaned - had some metal piece that broke off. It still worked to some degree though.
After eleven months of use, the vacuum died. It no longer turns on, and therefore doesn't work! Yes, a $50 vacuum is a great deal, but I'd rather have purchased a more expensive product that would have lasted a few years (maybe even close to ten...) instead of dying so quickly.
I don't recommend this product, not only because of its untimely death, but also because while alive it didn't do its job very well.
