- Braun Coffee Maker Review
- The Braun KF600 is an excellent coffeemaker. I have tried other brands, including Mr. Coffee and a top-of-the line Cuisinart product. None of these brews a more robust and flavorful cup of coffee. Braun is in a class by iteslf!

- Best Yet
- I would consider myself definitely a coffee-nut. Not an expert, a nut. There's a big difference. So take it from a coffee nut, this is the best coffee maker I've had yet. While everyone's tastes on that perfect cup of coffee differ, I have yet to find anyone else's coffee including restaurant coffee that give you that "Mmmm..."smell in the morning and the same feeling after taking your first drink. Even the second cup is as nice as the first (pending you don't drink your second cup 3 hours later of course.)
I'm just a gal who loves her coffee in the a.m. and after choosing this one as a new one for me (my last year's gift was a one-cup maker from Melita) I don't think I went wrong a bit.
From a busy-mom stand point I almost feel spoiled in the mornings which is always nice, it cleans nicely, it doesn't matter if I've forgotten filters at the store as I can still get a good cup of coffee (I'm almost partial now to not having them at all), and the best part is that it is fast! The carafe easily comes right along with me into my home office in the a.m. for easy refills and no, I've never had the overflow issues either.
Pour spout is awesome...never comes out to fast like a regular glass pot may do if you're half asleep in the a.m. or in a hurry. Stainless steel on black is nice and still looks sleek on your counter if you do not put away inbetween uses.
I give this one a two-thumbs and if for nothing else for the simple fact that I still love every cup that it makes and it still looks as great as the day I purchased it!
The only tiff me and this pot have is the filters. I love to use them, but can't get my hands on them quickly and conveniently enough to get new ones each month. - 2008-06-26, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- I'm impressed
- A few years ago, I subscribed to the Gevalia coffee service, taking advantage of their offer of a free thermal carafe coffee maker. After years of drinking burnt coffee, using a thermal carafe instead of a glass one seemed like a good idea. It was, and it converted me to thermal carafes.
After a few years, the Gevalia started leaking. Gevalia was good enough to replace the entire unit for free. Then, recently, again after several years of use, the second thermal carafe started leaking. This time, Gevalia had a different policy: no free replacement. So I decided to search the reviews for a different brand.
I chose the Braun KF600 based on a combination of Consumers Reports, Amazon.com, and specialized food and coffee web site reviews. There was a very expensive one that got top ratings, and then this and one or two others in the same less expensive second tier. Since I associate the Braun brand with coffee products, I thought it would be a relatively safe bet.
After a couple of weeks using the Braun, I'm very impressed and pleased with this purchase. The unit has a great look and feel. The Gevalia was all plastic and felt cheap. It was also quite tall and bulky. This unit has metal and rubberized elements and feels very substantial. It's easy to hold and the swing-out basket is very easy to detach and clean. And the lid, while unusual, is actually quite cleverly designed and is also easy to detach and clean. The carafe has little rubber feet, so you can set it in the sink and the bottom won't get wet. The "pause and serve" feature works well: no drama, no dribbling coffee after you've pulled the carafe away.
Some have complained that the coffee doesn't stay hot very long. Based on my experience with the Gevalia and the Braun, I would conclude that with any carafe, if you want really hot coffee, you have to fill it up with hot tap water first and let it sit while you grind your coffee and fill the basket. I've also taken to filling my mug with hot water, so that it doesn't start to immediately cool down the fresh coffee. Do both of those things and you'll have coffee hot enough to scald your tongue -- at least if you drink it black -- and stay that way for quite a while.
I've only used these two brands. I'm sure the Braun isn't perfect. But I'm really enjoying it. - 2008-06-25, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
