- Terrible product
- We bought this software, but could not get it to load with the .NET account or access any of our online bank accounts. Basically useless, the help on microsoft website is tantamount to reloading all your other software to 'migrate' to a new admin account to get it to work. Software is not supposed to this hard.
I wasted a day on this, please don't do the same. - 2005-04-10, 2 of 3 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Incredibly Disappointing "Upgrade"
- First, let me say that I have been an avid fan, user, and recommender of the Microsoft Money products since I first became acquainted with them after the 1998 version release of the product.
Words cannot express how greatly disappointed I am with the product itself and Microsoft as a company for unleashing this grossly inept, buggy, and endlessly frustrating piece of trash upon its previously contended users.
I have spent countless hours trying to fix problems that Money 2005 has created in my personal financial records, and even more hours with their support people communicating with them via e-mail (a journey in frustration itself - you have to format your messages a certain way for it to even get to them).
I am, as of today, sending a request to Microsoft for a refund of my purchase price and am going to try one of the Quicken products. I've never even used ANY of the Quicken products before, and am already convinced that they are surely head and shoulders above this latest version of Money.
Shame on Microsoft for thinking that nobody would be willing to jump ship and take their business elsewhere. - 2005-04-05, 3 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Worst Episode Ever!
- Wholeheartedly concur with the other negative comments. The 2005 version is a huge regression. I, too, had to go back to the 2004 version. If you do attempt the upgrade be forewarned that the 2005 version slightly modifies the old data file, so be sure to backup your earlier Money file in a place where the program cannot find it. My Money file became so badly corrupted after the 2005 version that I had to delete it and start afresh. I wasted an entire Sunday afternoon reentering months of data.

- I guess my budget is okay...
- But I wouldn't know because I haven't seen it since I upgraded from 2004. Neither of my computers--both of which are plenty powerful--seems to be able to crack my budget's code. Fortunately, everything else has worked so far.
I am perfectly ambivalent about MS. The first three editions of Money I had were great--2004 best of all. But this one is absolutely worthless. I might as well enlist my dog to keep track of my budget: at least he responds. I can look at my statements online without Money; the whole point is its ability to help you plan and respond to your changing needs and expenditures. The messed up Budget feature makes it just a holding tank for data, which a pen and paper can handle just fine.
If you have not bought it, don't. Get 2004 or stick with your previous version. All over the net, people are having problems with this software. Bill Gates's budget's probably off too. - 2005-03-18, 2 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- The new online features are very buggy
- At first I was very pleased with the new online bank transaction downloads via Yodlee. I no longer had to go to my bank's website and download a QIF file to get transactions -- they just appeared. Then all of a sudden that feature just stopped working and transactions no longer got downloaded. Several emails to Microsoft support have gone unanswered for weeks. They apparently are well aware that the Yodlee system is not working properly and are doing nothing to fix it.
