Leatherman New Wave 830039
I have used Leatherman tools in the past and always had good luck with the product. This new tool does not let you down. I keep the New Wave in the SUV and have used it on several jobs without having to go find several tools to perform one job. It is a strong and reliable handy tool to have around. Sad replacement for original wave
I was given one of the first-generation Waves as a gift when they were first introduced, and loved the thing. I used it all the time, and when it finally started to wear out I looked forward to the upgraded Wave as a replacement. There's a lot to like about the new Wave: bigger blades, scissors that actually cut, the bit holder, better pliers. But the drop in quality over the original Wave is appalling. Construction is very rough, there are raw tool marks on the machined surfaces, particularly in the opener holes on the blades, there's molding flash around the file, the action in the blade pivots is extremely uneven, and one of the plier pivots was so stiff I initially thought it was frozen. Plus the lock on the main bladewas incorrectly machined, preventing the lock from engaging.
You have to expect a certain amount of this from Leatherman, as the the focus always seems to have been on function rather than fit and finish. But the new model looks and feels like it was gnawed of a pot metal billet by a dog. For what these things cost, that's pitiful.

My dad loved it
My dad was pretty happy when he recieved it. He never had one and cut the instructions in half trying to get to the leatherman. Although my dad had to look up the instructions online to figure out how to use it. The delivery was fast and greatly appreciated. thank you.

Best Leatherman Yet
This is my 4th Leatherman and the 1st with outside blades. The quality of the New Wave is excellent and having access to the blades, file and saw without opening the tool is very useful. I work in construction and always have a Leatherman on my belt. Western Case makes an excellent, compact, nylon belt clip case for medium size Leatherman tools.

Excellent Multitool
I love my Wave more than most of my other multitools. I own 6 multitools at the time of this writing, and my Wave is my current favorite that I carry and use all the time.
The one handed blade opening is great. The operation is smooth and the blades themselves are extremely sharp.
I've done a lot of abusive stuff to this multitool, and so far it has held up well. I even sawed through a PVC pipe once in an emergency which I was sure was going to destroy the non-wood saw blade. It cut through nicely and actually made the saw sharper than before (I accidentally cut myself with it seeing if it was still sharp).
It's a great tool and you won't be disappointed.
My only complaint about it is that the internal tools are a little too tight to open comfortably. I wish they were as easy to open as the tools on my Leatherman SuperTool 200.
