Windows XP SP2 Problem Solved
I build a lot of computers. I used to install Norton AntiVirus 2003 on all of them. On a recent build, Norton Internet Security 2005 came on the motherboard disk so I thought I'd give it a try. First I tried loading it before other programs and it thru the annoying repair-not-supported error making you uninstall then reinstall it. So, I uninstalled it and waited until the rest of the software was installed. When I tried again, it brought the computer to it's knees! When I tried to uninstall it, it just locked up forcing me to rebuild everything from scratch loosing 2 days of work!!! Enter McAfee... The install ran perfect, the updates ran perfect, and the software performs perfect. I can't comment on the spam program because I uninstalled it since my server already catches 99% of all spam. Until Norton learns to play nice with Windows XP SP2, I'd strongly recommend that you use McAfee!!! Oh and one other thing, any security program will use resources. If your computer slows down that much, you need a new computer! The computer I installed it on boots in 20 seconds! Also, some knowledge as to security programs in general is requred regardless of what you install. Thinking you can install a security program and not take the time to set it up is pure foolishness. Please don't blame McAfee!

DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY
I bought the McAfee Internet Security Suite last year and i would NEVER use McAfee ever again. I am absolutely disgusted with their poor customer service. I had problems with my software working on a different computer -it wouldn't install. Anyway, i called them and spoke to a mcafee agent who was unable to help. I also tried the Mcafee chat on their website to see whether they could help me -no luck. So i emailed them SEVERAL TIMES and they still did not help me. This software is now useless to me and i haven't even been able to use it on my computer. Their customer service was very poor. Instead of offering me an exchange they expected me to contact the technical dept. that charges $2.95 (i think)/minute as it was over 30 days that i purchased it. I cannot believe how mcafee has treated me on this matter. Lets just say they won't be getting another cent from me

Ok so far.
I really wasn't all that thrilled with 6.0 but my virus updates had just expired and I either needed to pay for another years worth or purchase new software. With the rebates being offered this program was going to be free anyway so I took a chance with 7.0.
It looks the same but it works much better than the previous version. My main problem before was that all my Mcafee updates had to be done with Internet Explorer (I prefer Netscape). And to conduct a Windows update I had to disable the firewall. With the upgrade those problems have disappeared. Also setting my preferences and options seem to be easier.
There is the occasional annoyance of the "spamkiller has been updated-click here" popup. But nothing is perfect.
If you do upgrade I strongly suggest uninstalling 6.0 first.
I don't know that the privacy service or spamkiller really do anything. Most of us would probably be ok with an antivirus/firewall combo instead.
Bottom line: Installation was easy. Operation is easy. I have had no problems with this product. It operates smoothly. I have had no viruses or intrusions. I recommend it especially if there is a rebate.
p.s. expect to wait the full 8-10 weeks for your rebate

Mostly Harmless
This program is... OK. Here's the Reader's Digest version: The virus scan and firewall programs are outstanding. The Spamkiller and Privacy Control programs are pretty much useless. Spamkiller took about half of my emails (none of which were spam) and stuck them in a "Spam" folder which I then had to rescue them from. It would take far less time to just delete spam the old fashioned way then to try and sort through Spamkillers folders and made sure that nothing important got thrown away. Privacy Control is a little better, but I didn't need it and there is no easy way to turn it off. Trying to "disable" the programs with the Security Center did not work (for me). Despite saying that they were disabled, the programs would somehow turn themselves back on after every restart. I finally just uninstalled Spamkiller and Privacy control and now am very happy with the program. Depending on cost, I would recommend that you just buy the Virus Scan/Firewall bundle rather than this program. However, at the time of my purchase, the rebates offered actually made this the cheaper option. Oh Magoo (I mean McAfee), you've done it again!

Don't Buy This if you already have a McAfee product!
If you have McAfee installed on your computer from Dell or Gateway, updating with a newer version of Mcafee will produce more error messages and heartaches than you can imagine. Do not upgrade! Stick with what you have and renew your virus scan, or uninstall Mcafee and go with something else. They will not be able to help you, and will not support their product. If the product you purchased is a disc version, they will not help you to fix your problem quickly with a download version either. McAfee prefers you to be inconvenienced by 2 weeks of returning and waiting for a new disc. This after they disabled your computer completely with error messages galore! My emails are deleted before you can get to them, they just disappear (and they're not in your recycle bin or outbox either! They're just gone!) Files are corrupted, firewall doesn't function, privacy security produces error messages for every program you start. This is a case of buyer be ware . . . please take notice.
