If you want TV with the web, the best solution - caution on wireless set up however!
I got my MSNTV2 recently and aside from having problems setting it up with wireless broadband, it now works pretty well. I used to be a WEb TV subscriber 4 years ago but missed being able to do things on the TV in the bedroon, especially on weekend mornings on a 36" screen in front of my bed. It was cool for me and the wife to surf the web together also or look up something quickly if I needed to.
CAUTION: If you are trying to get WIRELESS adapters to work with this, ONLY use the ones they recommend ON THE WEB SITE but make sure theY ARE THE VERSIONS they recommend on their web site or you will be frustrated when they do not work. You may have to find them on the internet stoires because most retail stores have later models which DO NOT work with MSNTV2. Also they do not tell you that you have to upgrade to the latest software on the units purchased directly from Microsoft to get wireless to work at all.
The video streaming is cool with thousands of videos available on demand and it is like watching your TV. Ocassionally it hangs up and you lose sound sometimes forcing you to turn off the unit and restart it. I am going to see if more memory is available to fix that.
Overall, I am fairly pleased, knowing that this medium has limitations but it does what I want. It is not as good as I had hoped but aside from a rocky set up which I had to get their help on (they were helpful but it could have been unnecessary with better documenation with the box and an upgrade before shipping).

buy a computer, DO NOT BUY THIS
everything m$n says about this unit is basically wrong. media player?? only if you want to watch limited and jerky videos. music??? only if you want constant interuptions. web surfing??? not if you use the search function, you'd be better off with a phone book and atlas. this p.o.s. keeps telling me there's a navigation error when going to known web sites. took 5 tries to find this web site. if you have a classic or plus, DO NOT BUY THIS. GET A COMPUTER. IF YOU WANT CONSTANT PROBLEMS AND AGGRAVATION, BUY THIS. for LIMITED web surfing and a totally screwed up mail system and keyboard, this is the way to go. good job m$n. you had a chance to make a good product better, but as usual YOU SCREWED IT UP. 3-2-07 review
after owning this thing, all i can say is DO NOT BUY IT. after 5 or 6 upgrades and numerous patches to fix the upgrades, this thing is CRAPPIER THAN BEFORE. videos don't play, mail and favorites disappear for days at a time, more navigation errors and page not available messages than i thought possible.
if you jump on a computer at the same time, the web pages are available/site functioning perfectly.
customer/tech support, while polite, have NO CLUE as to what's broken/not working/when it'll be fixed at any given time.
CONSTANT msntv service not available messages.
a new problem after the last upgrade, a skipping keyboard.
this thing will be listed on ebay, after i use a computer to list it because they still HAVE NOT fixed the ebay problem, and i will be free of msn products/problems forever. if i could make it zero stars i would

NOT A GOOD CHANGE!
They stated the new MNS TV 2 would work faster
and that one would be able to do more with it
than the Web TV Classic; however, it does much
less than Web TV.
I never had any problem at all with the Web TV
and never had to phone for help or thing going
wrong with it; however, with the new MSN TV 2
things are going wrong constantly and I have
to call. When one calls you have too wait
a really long time before you can even speak
to someone. Then they do not seem to understand what one is trying to tell them
what is wrong with it.
STAY WITH YOUR WEB TV. YOU WILL BE HAPPIER!!

Terrible would be too good
I had this piece of junk from the day they first arrived. Sad experience, which included 5 defective boxes, does not work without broadband and techs who were rude and had no clue about how to even advise about this contraption. RCA was no help either, and being the manufacturer should bear some of the responsibility. They reluctantly replaced each defective one, except the last, which I would have sold on ebay, unopened. That way, I would not be ripping someone off, since this one could actually work. Went to look on ebay, in fact, and many were for sale, some with no bids for them at all. Had webtv and webtv plus for many yrs., but feared they would be phased out, so, as another reveiver said here, took a chance. It is true, you get what you pay for. It is useless, constant battling with both MSN and RCA, plus the aggravation could never been compensated for. Had I known, someone here had sued and gotten $5,000 I would have been overjoyed. It took up a yr. of my time, with nothing to show for it. The only thing this item is good for is email, when and if operating properly. The forums that discuss the wonderful use of same, treat you rudely and scoff if you "tell it like it is". Lucky few probably did enjoy it on broadband, but I do not think they are in the majority. Dial up is n.g. Many of these, during Oct.2004 until now just lost their money, as did I. Also we suffered the indignities of the users that sang it,s praises. God bless them if they were lucky, many, including me, were not. Don,t waste your money, unless you can just throw it away. Actually, I paid $200 for it, and now with the rebate, it costs $100. Maybe you will be lucky, but I bought a PC and got a good buy. I do miss the virtues of webtv, but not MSNTV 2. IMHO, it is a product that was rushed to the consumers, in time for last Christmas without fixing the problems that they knew existed. One has to know tricks to correct it,s deficiences and there is a whole forum on it to inform you how to work around the many problems. Take your money and either save it, or be prepared to deal with a lot of annoyance. Good luck, and Merry Christmas

Much Better Than the Old System!
I upgraded to the MSNTV Player recently because I neeed to access certain websites that the old Webtv receiver couldn't do.I wasn't disappointed when I hooked the new system up.Navigating most websites is much more easier & it doesn't take a eternity to load.I was hesitant to purchase this unit at first, but now it was well worth it.
