Canopus 77010150100 ADVC110 Converter
I live in the US. I don't consider myself to be an expert in video and audio authoring, but I know enough to know what I am doing.
I have hundreds of PAL VHS video tapes. I needed a way to capture the footage from my PAL video recorder and burn them to DVD. I did some research and eventually my search lead me to the Canopus ADVC110 Converter.
The unit arrived and I first plugged it into my Windows XP PC, via the DV In/Out port. It worked without any problems, but I lacked good video editing software. I tried my wife's IMac and used iMovie and IDVD and the whole system works seamlessly. IMovie captures the video as DV; it can be edited and then shared to IDVD for real final touch. IMovie and IDVD works with PAL or NTSC video.
I am very happy with the Canopus ADVC110 Converter.
I have not encountered any problems with audio sync, when though the video is sometimes 2 hours long. I read some of the reviews of this product that indicate there being problems with this. I personally have not.
I like the way the product operates on PC and Mac without the need to load driver software and the way it captures PAL video.

Canopus Video Converter
I bought my Canopus 77010150100 ADVC110 Converter back in September to convert VHS tapes to DVD. I've only used it once, but it worked very well.
I converted an 18year old wedding video for one of my wife's co-workers to DVD format. I didn't experience any problems hooking it up to my computer and VCR, or converting the tape to DVD. I used Pinacle 12 to capture the tape and convert it to DVD.
While I was researching this product I read a review that stated "you gets what you pay for!!". In my opinion, I think it's a great product, well worth the money.

Major upgrade for me
I'm really happy with the ADVC110. I had been using the PYRO A/V Link, which worked pretty well for several months but then it stopped being functional (dropping frames, the analog/digital switch stopped working so I couldn't get it to stick to analaog) ... anyway, this one was so easy to install. It's really portable because there' no power supply required, so I can use it on my Mac and various Windows PCs in our studio. Not a dropped frame. Works like a charm. Just love it.

Canopus Converter ADVC110
Another Fabulous Grass Valley product! Works just as concisely and easily as advertised. I use the windows platform and it is great. I know it would work equally well with MAC. My laptop has a four pin firewire so I am using their adapter. Their tech support is great. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone wishing to convert analog to DV!
