I just can't vacuum the kitchen in 3 minutes...
I bought the GoVac in May 07' to clean up in the kitchen everynight and I was very impressed at first. It had good suction power and lasted more then the 12 minutes that Bissell claimed. Now, only 4 months later, the fully charged GoVac lasted exactly 3 minutes and 23 seconds before there was a dramatic loss in suction power, to the point that it was not able to vacuum any crumbs at all. Spend your money on small corded shop vac instead. They last longer and you never have to worry about losing power halfway through the job.

Good for Tile and Carpet
With tile floors and Persian area rugs along with 2 toddlers, we needed something light for frequent spot sweeping. This works perfectly - enough power, a battery that holds it's charge, and plenty of clearance to pick up large food pieces.

Bissell Go Vac battery replacement
This is a superb little machine. Ours is about eight years old, and I love it. Three-year-old grandson thought it was a toy and kept the floors immaculate. But, when the batteries finally wouldn't hold a charge, anymore, I called the Bissell toll-free number. The Bissel Company never made any replacement batteries available for the vacuum. They said it was a "Throw-Away. " Right. Like I will pay $30-$50 for a tool I will toss? I don't THINK so! A call and visit to a local battery store where they can make battery packs yielded a very acceptable replacement battery pack for about $16 including tax. The catch? they needed the old battery pack because they have to use the contacts from the old one in the new one. I also learned more about the right care for this tool. Never store it in the charger unless you are actively charging it. When the machine starts to slow down, let it run out of power and then charge it. Then store it next to, if you wish, but not IN the charger. We gave my parents a Go Vac and theirs now won't recharge, either, so they are shipping the old battery to us for replacement. My recommendation is that this is a great little machine, lighter weight than almost anything in its class, and worth having. Don't let a manufacturer's "Throw-Away," mentality stop you from buying one!

Big help in a small package
I have used the GoVac 5 times and I am pleased with its performance. I have uneven mexican tile floor, hardwood, area rugs and some carpet. I am able to zip around easily vacuuming up most anything. It is not a heavy duty vacuum for all cleaning, but it works great for in between cleanings. I am amazed at how well it picks up. I am very careful to let the battery completely die before I plug it in to charge. I like it and it works for me.
