- BAD BAD BAD Customer Service IF Any
- For Christmas I went to the "O"'s website to order a subscription for my sister. The subscription site is not very clear (Though to my own error - I tend to be quick with the fingers - as my husband calls me Mrs Clicky-Clicky). I finally saw where at the very bottom in very fine writing it says "gift subscription". Once I finally got to the page, I believe I misread or clicked to fast and accidently selected a "treat yourself to a subscription". Needless to say, by the time I realized it, it was too late.
I searched all over the site, back and forth, re-Googling, everything, but there is not one single 1-800 # for any type of customer service to be found. I ended up having to go through 5 screens to get to a customer service function for my situation. The best I could come up with was 'Cancel subscription'. But the site also previously said to wait 6-9 weeks for processing before canceling, if any magazines were shipped you would be refunded the difference.
Since I did not want this magazine at all, I wrote the customer service anyway. Once I typed in my explanation, etc and hit "Send" it wouldn't send. Even refreshing kept my information on the screen. After clicking send 10x - it finally went through.
2 days later I noticed the charged for the subscription on my credit card 2x. The next day I got an email response from their customer service stating "We do not show a subscription for yourself, your gift subscription will be entered into our files and begin with Dec 2006 issue. You will receive an invoice in the near future, and upon receipt of your
payment of $18.00 your gift subscription(s) will continue for the full
number of issues ordered."... AN INVOICE???? To continue? They already charged my credit card Twice?!
I emailed back. It's been 7 days and no response to my email. So I went back to the website to try from their customer service page again, and it won't go at all, no matter how many times I select send.
I'm out $36 (though to my error) but have no way to be able to resolve this issue due to the lack of either a customer service willing to do things thoroughly the first time (i.e their 1 response to me) or a customer service dept that is obtainable or reachable.

- Oprah: The Magazine
- Purchasing the subscription to the Oprah Magazine is one of the best investments I've made. I used to buy it every now and then on the newstand for the inflated newstand price, but now it comes straight to my mailbox for a fraction of the cost, well ahead of the time it hits the newstands. The articles are always timely and on topics that interest me and which I feel would interest other women---topics to do with body image, money, sex, self-esteem, relationships of all types, assertiveness, giving and receiving and also topics that deal with difficult or traumatic issues like child abuse, cancer, losing a child, etc. It is not only the topics in and of themselves that are of interest but the focus the writers take when writing about them that make the reading so engrossing. One might find articles on these same topics in other magazines, but the content of the articles in the Oprah Magazine is, in my opinion, far superior. The writing is always excellent and the editing superb. While I may take the month to finish reading the magazine, I read it cover to cover and some articles have such a great impact on me that I cut them out save them so that I can read them again in the future. The advertisements are, for the most part, an enhancement to the magazine and not an annoying interruption like they are in most magazines. They are well chosen and focus on products and services that nurture and pamper. The prices are often on the high side, but what is advertised is generally high quality and fits with one of the main messages of the magazine, "Take good care of yourself".

- CAN'T REVIEW 'CAUSE I DON'T HAVE
- I AM STILL NOT RECEIVING THIS MAGAZINE. AND I HAD A GIFT SUBSCRIPTION ON THAT ORDER, TOO. I'VE BEEN MEANING TO GET IN TOUCH. THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN MORE THAN LONG ENOUGH FOR SUBSCRIPTION TO START.

- I like Oprah magazine but hate the magazine subscription.
- The first copy of the magazine my wife received was a two month old copy of the magazine when the current magazine issue was on the newstand, the second issue came on time but the third issue has yet to arrive as the current issue has been sitting on the magazine shelf for weeks. The distribution of this very good product is very inconsistent.... maybe I can cancel my subscription and take a money lost and get this superior magazine from the magazine store.
