great for older TV
The DVD/VCR combo was a gift for my sister. She has an older TV that needed
a built in receiver. The combo works great and she is especially impressed
with the sound. The only negative was that it was a little complicated to
install. Once it was working it was great. It arrived in a timely manner and she is very satisfied.

Stopped working after 18 months.
I've read several online post and a lot of complaints are being made about the Toshiba DVD/VCR combo SD-V393. A lot of these models have stopped working after only a little over a year of use. I bought this product in December 2005 from Sears. I thought that the power connection was loose but realized the DVD/VCR had died. Previous use of this item was great but I feel that buying a product that will only last a little more than a year is not reliable.

dvd/vcr
unit takes time to react to a command. At first I thought something was wrong with the product. It wouldn't rewind or fast forward immediately from when I pushed the button. But other than the delay of "thinking" of what to do, the unit performs fine.

Great picture and sound quality, easy to use for the techno-challenged
This was one of the best gifts I've ever received. The buttons make sense; both DVDs and videotapes play perfectly. I've had mine for a year and a half. I see that other folks have written that they have had problems, but I have had no problems at all. Although I primarily use it for DVDs,I really love this machine, and would recommend it to anyone who still has videos, and who hates complicated buttons and/or directions on their remotes.

WORKS GREAT - LESS FILLING ! !
I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS OF NOISE OR POOR QUALITY WITH THE TOSHIBA SD-V393. I HAVE ONLY USED IT A FEW WEEKS BUT SO FAR - SO GOOD! I DO AGREE THE REMOTE CONTROL IS VERY SMALL.
