INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU IS PUT ON THE CASE WHEN THE PINK PANTHER DIAMOND IS STOLEN, WITH THE PHANTOM'S TRADEMARK GLOVE THE ONLY CLUE.
Peter Sellers's third go-around as the prideful but bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau is funny enough, but this 1975 Blake Edwards revival of the Sellers-Clouseau connection is a little weak in comparison to predecessors The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark (both made in 1964). Costar Christopher Plummer actually gets some of the most interesting screen time as a retired cat burglar whom Clouseau accuses of getting back into the business. (If it sounds like there might be a To Catch a Thief vibe mixed in here, you're right.) Herbert Lom is hilarious as Clouseau's psychologically eroding boss, and Clouseau's ritualistic collisions with valet Cato (Burt Kwouk) are great examples of Edwards's delicious comic timing. — Tom Keogh

- Among the funniest
- Pink Panther...these just do not get old. While they are not all good, they still have some funny moments. This is one of the funnier Panther movies in my opinion. Sit back and enjoy some classic comedy. More reviews
- Complete your box set of the Pink Panther
- This is the one DVD that is not available in the box set of the pink panther due to a licensing issue. It is a fitting completion of the series. Although some of us who saw the original releases of this series in the theater may not be as entertained by it because we know what to expect, this series is finding a new audience in the college crowd. This stand alone DVD More reviews
- The Comeback of the Pink Panther
- Peter Sellers' triumphant return as Inspector Clouseau is the best aspect of this uneven 1975 sequel. Writer-director Blake Edwards has essentially remade "The Pink Panther" and "A Shot in the Dark" with an emphasis on lavish sight gags. As a result, the schizophrenic storyline never coheres into a satisfying whole. "The Return of the Pink Panther" might have worked better if David More reviews
- I had to watch this - had to!
- I had just seen Steve Martin's accretion to the Pink Panther pantheon, and had to see a Sellers rendering of Clouseau. Kind of like gargling after you burp sour.
Even though this movie - and not the best of Sellers's Panther movies - kept a lower profile throughout, it delivered bigger yuks than the newer flick could hope to. I mean, More reviews
