Awesome Machine
I bought this cleaner around two years ago, after acquiring a cat who hairballs all of the time. And I love it to bits and pieces.
It's slightly bulky and awkward for a short girl like me to carry up and down the stairs, but that's forgivable.
I clean my carpet around once every three or so months and you would be amazed at the amount of cat hair that comes out of that poor carpet that my normal vacuum doesn't reach. It heats up the water almost instantly, and despite what the people say on the negative reviews, my cleaners water does get hotter than tap. It is amazing at getting out stains, and for those stubborn little stains there is always the tool that you can go to town with. There are about eight million (exaggeration, just a little bit) attachments which is never a bad thing when it comes to cleaning and I use all of them.
All in all, I would totally recommend this product. My carpet looks as good as it has since day one!

This is great!!!
I have 3 dogs between 8 and 14 years of age, and one cat, and sometimes, even though it is rare, accidents happen. I love having animals, but don't like the smell that stays behind after these accidents, and they do stay, no matter how much elbow grease i put into it, nor how many cleansers that I have tried, I still smell it when I walk in the room. I had researched a few deep carpet cleaners and was very hesitant to purchase one because I needed something affordable but that would also clean the rugs well, get rid of the smell, and not take hours upon hours to dry.
Set up was pretty easy. I did use hot tap water and the heating option. And even though I used the normal setting, the carpets were clean, and the room smelled great! I used the Bissell cleaner for pets. I have used this in the whole house and am very pleased with the results.
Even though I vacuumed before I used it, there was ALOT of hair that was brushed and sucked up. At one point it wasn't suctioning up the water well, but I realized that it had gotten clogged with the hair, so I unscrewed it rinsed it under the faucet and it worked just fine. I didn't realize how dirty the rugs really were. I do give it a final pass with the rinse option just to remove any residue. I don't want my pets licking it.
I have used this about 6 times so far for, twice for the entire house. I haven't had any problems with it leaking or with its ability to suck up all of that water. Just have to remember to take your time and to check the water reservoir. You will have to empty out the dirty water a couple of times. In the summer it took about 2 hours for the floor to dry, and about five in the winter to completely dry. I do unscrew the parts, rinse them, and let them dry overnight before putting them away.
I am very pleased with this purchase. I hope my experience helps you with your decision to purchase a cleaner!

DO NOT BUY
WORSE THAN I EVER IMAGINED. DOES VERY LITTLE AS ADVERTISED. TOOK IT FOR REPAIR THINKING THAT IT WAS JUST A BAD UNIT, WAS REPLACED WITH NEW ONE AND STILL JUST AS BAD....LOOK ELSEWHERE

Needs some tweaks
In general I like the design. I like that all the attachments fit on the unit so they don't get lost. I like how compact the unit is. It's a little heavy, but that's okay.
I don't like the way it dispenses the cleaning fluid. It should be sprayed on with a more fine mist instead of a thick stream. It means that it's hard to get good even coverage of the fluid.
I had to stop and empty it a lot. I guess this is okay, but it would be neat if it could make a little better use of it's space to store more fluid.
It was hard to tell when the clean water was empty. There needs to be some sort of indicator to tell you when you are out of water.
It took a long time to clean it afterwards. I don't know how this good be improved as there are lots of parts and if you don't clean it well, it will get nasty.
I didn't like how the turbo stair brush could either suck or scrub. Not both at the same time. The scrubber was weak. I guess the only way to improve this would be to run electricity to the head and put a motor in it. That would be expensive and make it big and heavy. I guess the compromise made was good, but I wish there was a better way to get more power in the turbo stair brush scrubber.

Love it!
This is a great product. I researched a lot before I decided to purchase it. I am very happy with it, it cleans great, my carpets finally look fresh, and smell good. I got great tips from the reviews on Amazon about proper maintenance of this cleaner, indeed it is very easy to do it, and in general very easy to operate. I highly recommend Bissell 9400 ProHeat.
