- Everything it was cracked up to be....
- I have an extensive music library on my upstairs computer which I now access via the Roku in my living room downstairs. It plays clear crisp music received via wireless internet connection from my computer which is easily 80 feet away with numerous walls between. It was a snap to set up and I am by no means a computer wiz. I can now listen to great sounding music on demand and also have access to over 4,900 internet radio stations from around the world! I LOVE my Roku and will be getting a second to use in another part of my home.

- ROKU Soundbridge ROCKS
- The soundbridge is great. I had no trouble getting internet radio to stream through my component stereo. For some reason my Windows Media Player playlist wouldn't work, but I was having issues with Media Player anyway. I downloaded Firefly Media Server and I-tunes to use in place of Windows Media Player and now everything works fine. It is great to be able to browse my library and playlists from the living room where my stereo is. I use it daily and even my technologically challenged girlfriend can turn it on and start a playlist.

- Remarkable
- A quite remarkable product, in that it does what it says and works without fuss. Now, that might not seem such a big deal, but just about every home networking product I've installed seems to have some sort of teething problems. But not this device. It detected my wireless network, accepted the password, and connected without any problems. And then it automagically found the PC that has all my CDs ripped on to its hard drive, and connected via Windows Media Player 11's sharing facility, allowing access to all the music plus my play lists. The unit seems able to play without skipping over a wireless link, and the music quality is excellent. Overall, I'm very happy, and I think I'll be buying another.

- Roku Rocks!!!
- I've seen other reviews where the Roku has become a paper weight and there's zero customer support. I have to admit my Roku sat around for 5 months because I forgot my admin password to the Linksys router at home (you need to access the Hex version of the password if your wifi is password protected). Once I decided I couldn't wait any more I dove into the problem, fixed the issue with the router and... couldn't connect. It turns out you have to make sure that your unit's software is updated.
Admittedly it wasn't a piece of cake to install (not all of it Roku's fault) but once you understand the process it is fairly simple.
The big bonus comes when you get it to work. Simply WOW!!!! What an amazing toy, which becomes a tool which turns into a necessity!!
The reason I wrote this is not so much to say how cool this is (it is, 5 stars all the way) but to openly wish for a rechargeable remote that would have a lighted display of the information on the Roku. - 2007-06-10, 3 of 5 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Great device, pathetic wi-fi reception
- I was very excited to get this for X-mas last year, but instantly became disappointed when I was unable to get a wireless wi-fi connection outside of the room with my router. All of the other wi-fi devices in our house connect well, especially with the Linksys booster in the kitchen, but not the Soundbridge. I have given up on wireless, and am now trying to figure out how to directly link it to our stereo, which is currently far away from the router. On the plus side, the configuration and controls are great when it does connect, but this unfortunately doesn't help me. Beware of this device if your goal is a wireless connection across any distance.
