Well worth the price
Kimo investigates the murder of a young, white man found outside a gay club, a possible bashing. It's only been a couple of months since Kimo has come out of the closet, becoming the first openly gay police detective in Honolulu. As a result, any gay or lesbian related call was directed to Kimo.
Kimo carefully examines the body, making note of important details - like the victim still had his wallet with the cash still inside. Gay bashings have been on the rise recently, and Kimo feels this just might be another bashing. He scans the surrounding area, and then approaches the gathering crowd to ask questions. Of course nobody saw anything. The murder weapon is found, revealing this may not be a bashing, after all.
Kimo is a thorough, observant homicide detective who does his best thinkin' while on a surf board. If anyone can solve a murder in just 21 pages, we know Kimo can. I had a good chuckle when Kimo was questioning the victim's roommate. Kimo's one cool cop and he knows exactly how to keep the conversation on track. The short story doesn't rush through any of the details necessary for an intriqing murder mystery. The arrest was amusing as well as entertaining. You'll have to read to find out why.
There are three Amazon Shorts featuring Kimo: "I Know What You Did," "The Price of Salt" and "Kelly Green."
