- Great intro player-owned since Nov 2007 never a problem!
- I own both BD and HD DVD formats, and purchased this before Black Friday in 2007 for under $90. It is a great player, that has played every movie I have played, and the picture/fuction quality is oustanding. For the price, very robust. Ironically it played movies, that got stuck in the more sensitive A35 (which I also own), along with BD machines.

- Nice unit
- This is a nice, affordable high-def unit. Although it's "only" 1080i, the picture looks extremely good. I've watched various movies after upgrading the internal firmware. No issues with playback.
It's also an excellent upscaling DVD player.
I have two of these. I plan to keep watching HD content for a long time. HD-DVD discs are a lot cheaper than Blu-Ray discs at the moment, and so are the players. You can easily find this one nowadays for about $100. Very much worth it. - 2008-06-26, 1 of 1 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Works Great... Too bad Toshiba Screwed Us
- Love the unit but it is worthless now. I would not be surprised to see a class action suit against Toshiba. I will not buy Toshiba products ever again.

- Very good player
- Hello..
Toshiba hd dvd player a2, wow what can i say, I own a sony wega 50" television that is 2 years old now. I just purchased this thinking well the hd dvd players are going out from this company, was it worth it, I pondered it all day yesterday before opening the box. Going to bestbuy to get some hd dvd's well they were shipped back to the warehouses, so i went to the used dvd place and they had 7 of them that i bought plus another 2 at walmart, plus i'd say 3 or 4 on here, i put in a couple movies last night that i purchased, the phantom of the opera is the best movie, so much different colors, and the picture quality with the hdmi connection i must say is better then my blu ray player. The player takes about 20 seconds to load but not very long neither, i say this player is worth it because of the fact that there is so much you could do with it. I can't wait until amazon ships the dukes of hazard to see the experience, if you have a hdtv this would be a great product to buy, but don't get it if your expecting new movies to come out if they phase hd dvd's out but if you get the older movies its much worth it.
Thanks all. - 2008-03-30, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- we all deserve $50 gift cards on these obsolete loser HD players...Amazon needs to step up like Best Buy already has!
- the title says it all!
$50 gift card necessary for customer goodwill...format war was settled well before many of us consumers purchased these players yet these manufacturers and retailers like Amazon, Best Buy,Circuit City and the like took advantage of the consumer.Foster and Martin know nothing! - 2008-03-20, 1 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
