Fixed my spotty FM reception
A real step up for us who live at the bottom of a hill and have endured marginal FM reception as a result. I can listen to our local classical station now without listening to hiss during the quiet passages. Sound quality appears to be better than what we get with Sirius radio. I might be wrong because I'm listening across two different audio systems, but that's my take on it.

Marginal improvement
Based on other reviews, my expectations were not too high, and it was a good thing. I have a high end SONY receiver that does not get FM well. For some reason, getting good FM in my car radio is not an issue but sitting in your car whenever you want radio at home is not a good alternative.
We live near the top of a wooded hillside 25 miles south of most stations. With a power antennae (another marginal product), we could get fuzzy FM on a three or four stations . The HD tuner picked up a few more stations with the power antennae attached, though they are still not consistently clear. I ran the dipole antennae provided out a window and attached it to the side of my house. It generates modestly better, but still not "CD quality" sound on any station. For the best reception, the antennae needs to be moved differently for each station.
This product is at a reasonable price, and I now get NPR better (my primary interest), so I won't return it, but limit your expectations before your purchase it.

An excellant HD receiver.
The Sangean HD receiver was just what I was looking for at a reasonable price. All I had to do was plug it into the back of my stereo receiver. A very simple hook up. The reception is better than my stereo receiver's. The remote is as small as a credit card. I would have given it five stars but the unit lacks back lighted buttons... very annoying.

Fully pleased
I bought this HR radio tuner for use on my traditional receiver, but decided to use it with my big HDTV. The outputs work fine in the TV audio inputs, and with proper setting the TV screen goes off except to show volume changes or audio adjustments. So I have HDTV and radio together, using the surround sound of the TV. The stereo system remains in another room.
The performance startled me when it first came on--I was not used to such sound. The absence of any humming, hissing, or static was breathtaking. The antennae included work great for me--I just listen to local stations and they come in at optimal strength. The only reason for four stars instead of five is the lack of more in the way of outputs--a digital out, for instance, that might carry the station information data out as well as just audio. Also, a secondary output to the CD/DVD/VCR might allow recording a radio program without going back and unplugging things.

HD radio is great
This is a fine hd radio tuner that delivers alot for the price. There are some minor inconveniences, particularly the hd scanning and the fact that the tuner goes back and forth between analog and digital when the signal is too weak to sustain the hd, however I think there is an upgraded model which takes care of these problems. I have never heard radio sound so clear!
