- Say NO To Audit Defense Option!!
- The Turbo Tax software was really useful. HOWEVER they offer you "Audit Defense", a service that is supposed to represent you if you are ever Audited by the IRS. Well guess what, I was audited by the IRS. The accountant that they assigned to my case was in Pennsylvania (I live in DC, my case was being reviewed in DC). The guy NEVER called to ask what my situation was. After I initiated the call, he tried to tell me not to "fight the 2005 audit and maybe they will let the 2004 audit slide". I wasn't trying to "fight" anything, I wanted someone to Present My Case! After my date was up, I didnt hear from the guy, 3 weeks later I get a letter in the mail from the IRS saying I owe money because I didnt show XYZ information. DO NOT GET THE AUDIT DEFENSE! It is like going to court with a Public Defender, you are asking to lose...

- I'd like to give it 5 stars, but...
- Just not perfect. They improve it slightly year by year, but there's still some kinks in it. The auto-update could be done better, make it more idiot-proof, and some of the information on the items that need more detail are just as confusing as the real tax documents.

- Reliable as ever
- This goes from strength to strength each year. If you want to save money and don't mind 3 hours in front of the computer (after you have collected all your W-2s and paperwork together), then this how to do your taxes.
Ability to save, change, edit at later dates prior to submission makes this a great tool for the busy people of this world.

- Too Many Updates & Print Issue
- Turbo Tax Deluxe installed cleanly on Windows XP Pro with no problems but every time I went to use Turbo Tax there were updates.
I was never sure when I should submit my Tax return because maybe in a few days or weeks there would be more updates perhaps affecting what I would owe.
An update should be a rare occurrence but with this product it is routine. They need to get it right at time of release.
Another irritant is that the Turbo Tax cover letter throws off the print out of the return for those with 2 sided printers. Page 1 of 1040 ends up on on the back of one of Intuit's cover letter pages. The IRS doesn't want to see Intuit's words of wisdom with my return I am sure.
