Am I the only one that feels like this has gotten harder to use over time?
I've been using Turbotax for several years now and I feel like with the 2006 version they've made it so "stupid proof" that I worry I'm not doing things correctly. Older versions gave you a better feel for what was going on with the calculations and also how you might better construct your deductions for next year (because you could see how things were calculated).
That bein said Intuit has great and friendly support, and I still will continue to use it. Good support boosts them to 4 stars otherwise I would only go with 3.

Worked well. Import from financial institutions is great.
Worked without a hitch. Cost of e-file puts a damper on this being a great deal.
Simple stocks an bonds are easy. The import from financial institutions worked great. All items were easy to verify and had more detail than the forms I received in the mail.
Years past, I had a few more complex items and you have to figure out the tax code is talking about (if you can). The TurboTax and its help didn't automatically fix the complex tax code we have. Too bad they didn't have a (better) tax encyclopedia to help you out -- yet, I don't know how they would ensure the accuracy year after year. This year, I didn't have any such stuff to worry about.

It goes downhill faster each year
After using this product for Mac for over 10 years. I'm done. The price keeps going up, the "tax-help" within in the program keeps diminishing and the customer service is almost non-existent.
The server meltdown this year was the last straw. Their servers weren't too busy to let me pay to efile. But, apparently they were "surprised" by the number of people that they allowed to pay for their service. Baloney. I'll use a pencil and paper next year before I give Intuit another $100.

Annoying and they messed up E-FILE
This software now constantly tries to get you to upgrade to a "better" package - the schedule C for small business. I used to like TurboTax, but it has really gotten to be a pain.
And finally, I spent two days trying to e-file, always getting a Server busy message from Intuit. This is AFTER they got my credit card number and $34. to file the fed and state tax returns. So I had to hand assemble the return and make the trip to the Post Office. Intuit lobbied the Gov to let them keep this big $$$ plum, and then screwed it up. They had this same problem last year, and it is WORSE this year. Time to call all our representatives and get E-File FREE from the IRS. It saves the IRS money, far more than it costs. Why is Intuit allowed to suck this much more from us after making big profits on the package?
