- Best MP3 player available
- I've tried all the competitors first, I've had a Sansa Connect, Sansa E260, Microsoft Zune, Sirius Stiletto. While all are pretty good at some things, the ipod is just the best all around mp3 player available. Easy to use and navigate and has all the essential features, EQ, sleep timer, cover art, pictures, videos, games, easy podcast management. Plus the iTunes Store has pretty much everything imaginable, although some of the stuff you can get a little bit cheaper on Amazon's MP3 store.
If you're looking for an MP3 player, you can't go wrong with the ipod. Easy to use for everyone, not just technophiles. I even got one for my 60 year old dad as he travels a lot, and he loves it.
Also, the ipod has the largest support from 3rd party accessory makes for things like cases and even in-car listening options and integrated head units. - 2008-05-06, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- iLove iPod
- I am a 45 year old mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer this winter. I decided if I had to do chemotherapy, I needed a TREAT to make it more tolerable. I bought what I see as the Cadillac of iPods and it has not disappointed. I have movies and podcasts to entertain me, and music and audiobooks to soothe me. I did drop my iPod, but I ran to the nearest Apple store where I was treated like a good friend (even though I felt like an idiot)and it was fixed in literally MINUTES. I would recommend this to anyone who would listen. And if you have someone you love is facing a similar crisis, consider getting one as a gift.

- Glad I bought it...but not perfect.
- I've only had it for couple of months, but so far it's what I expected.
I did research and audition other players, and to Amazon's credit I read many of these reviews and this helped decide my purchase.
cons:
The headphones are only adequate and I found that upon audition that creative labs had better sound quality at a drastically lower price.
The screen does stay backlit when charging as another reviewer mentioned... but who cares? This is being too picky; I charge it at night and just flip it over on it's face so the light doesn't bother me while I try to sleep.
The screen looks like it could scratch easily, so I didn't tempt fate and immediatley purchased a case to protect it. If you're going to make this kind of hardware investment why not safeguard it? So, not really a con, but worth mentioning for you potential buyers.
Even with "cheap" headphones I was able to get a thick, full and booming bass response out of Creative lab product at a fraction of the cost.
Personally, I avoid the "syncronize upon connection" option. Read some of the other reviews on this...strange things can happen; it's true. I don't miss the feature and I think it renders the unit less flexible.
Note/warning: if you take the trouble to load all you music and check the sycronize function...and later change your mind and unsync, you WILL lose all of your songs and have to reload, again.
pros:
The battery life is outstanding.
Bang for the buck is maximized for all the storage capacity you get. The unit sounds better than decent although I have heard better, but I think it's a fair trade off for the dollar value. I would recommend that your ripped mp3's be processed at the 192 or better because, unfortunately, you will hear added distortion on songs ripped at poor/slower resolution rates; the bass repsonse will distort.
I'm perfectly content/satisfied to watch a movie/music video on the screen.
I have well over 10-15 hours of videos and movies loaded as well as 100's of songs and it barely made a dent in storage capacity. very nice indeed.
comment:
I've heard that the cover art could slow response down considerably. I believe this, so I don't use the feature. I don't care to look at the coverArt while I'm reading my bike; I'd crash. You decide what kind of user you are and make your purchase decision. If you want portable music for an active lifestyle by this and be happy. If you're going to compare this to your home entertainment system then I suggest you purchase a T.V., instead. - 2008-05-05, 1 of 1 people found this review helpful, Rated:

- The best gift i got for my wife ever.
- I purchased an Ipod Silver 80G 6G as a gift for my wife's birthday. I love her and will get her anything she want. She did not want the Ipod but got it anyway. Now she will not put it down nor let me use it at all. The product came fast and Amazon.com communicated with 100% of the way until I received the item. This was a good and speedy pocess for me. I will use Amazon.com again.
