Had no choice
I've used Turbo Tax for several and paper filed. I found it sufficient and would have bought it again this year but it no supports Windows 98 ! You can use thier online reporting for windows 98 but I really do not want all my tax filings including SSN#'s stored online in some companies data bank, thank you. SO, I bought HR Block Tax Cut which accomadates Windows 98. For basic filing its great and cheaper then Turbo anyway. I guess Turbo Tax thinks everyone has Windows 2000 now, not. I think they will lose some business because of non-support of W98, they lost mine.

Great product. Have used for 10 years and no problems.
I have used this product since 1997. My friend used Intuit's Turbotax, and thought his problems were an enigma. However, I filed with turbotax, my return was never sent to the IRS, and was given the same excuse. Bad customer service, even more confusing software in my opinion. I summarily tried Kiplinger's taxcut, and found no problems. I was even able to retrieve old tax returns that were stored on their mainframe when needed at a later time. This is the best tax product ever, and I continue to use it without fail every year. The audit review is a great feature that determines what the IRS computers will pick up as an audit flag, and requires you correct it before filing.

This used to be a great program... What the hell happend?
I purchased the premium addition online. I am a partial resident of CA and HI. After completing my Fed. and CA returns, I was prompted to purchase the HI state return for $24.95.
I swear to God, on the second question it said, "This program does not support HI partial residents. You will have to fill out the form manually. Sorry for the incovenience." Are you freakin' kidding me?! Why the hell did they take my $25?
Next I got to deal with a completely incompetent technical support staff. Three phone calls, two supervisors and over an hour later I got a refund. As if doing your taxes didn't cause enough aggravation on its own...
The program also seemed to have some problems with income from my rental property and kept referring me to IRS instructions. Didn't I pay for the program to avoid having to look things up in the official publications?
After using this program for so many years, literally without ever having a problem, I am shocked at how crappy my experience was this year. You better believe I'll be looking for a new program to use next year.

Not worth the money.
Continuity of direction is lacking. Often find yourself wondering what to do next? Also found it impossible to enter the bank numbers for direct deposit: The first two numbers just couldn't be entered? In general, a very irritating program. Ended up mailing my tax return to the IRS instead of e-filing.

Taxcut Premium 2006 for Mac won't update on G4s!
I was so thrilled to see Taxcut come back to Mac. Last year I vented out my frustration to anyone and everyone I could contact there about how the people behind the decision last year just weren't thoughtful enough when they took Taxcut from the thousands, even millions of professionals (who have Macs). I guess I wasn't the only one who submitted the same anger towards them.
I used H&RBlock's TaxCut (formerly Kiplinger Taxcut) back since 1998 and it has been part of my business since then and now. I was devasted when they opted the Mac users last year...sending them to Intuit's TurboTax. Sure it's okay for the simple business professionals, but it just doesn't stack up when it comes to details when it comes to itemizing deductions like TaxCut. Needless to say, I had to scrap my TurboTax return last year, to go back to TaxCut, but I wasn't about to use the Windows version. Instead, I was able to do my taxes through the TaxCut Online product.
So, that leads me to this year. Although they made it back to Mac users, it has been a nightmare so far. I was told that since I used the TaxCut Online product last year, there's no way to import 2005 into the 2006 standalone version. What's more annoying is when you go under "File" menu it says "Import Last Year's Data"... how @##$%^en stupid is that!!!
Anyway, the TaxCut 2006 for Mac is will not update. It will get hung up in the "Items remaining to be installed: 1703" window. I've been in contact with their customer support for about a week now and they have no clue how to resolve it. They're suppose to call me back in a couple of days with a resolution, which is highly unlikely. I just wanted a more complete version. That's all! The software developers of the weren't very thorough in finalizing the Mac version before they released it to all the Mac users, because they finalized it ONLY for the Windows version.
My thought is that since they developed it as a Universal application (which best serves the newer Intel-based Macs), it may not function as well on older Powermac G4 models.
