- Simply amazing
- I actually own two sets of the HKTS-18s, but am only using two of the satellites and the extra sub driven by a Harman/Kardon AVR 645. Although the sensitivity is relatively low at 86db, they are extremely clear. They outshine my old Bose Acoustimass 10 series VI setup in every aspect and at half the price. Since purchasing the HKTS-18s I now agree with the "No highs, no lows, must be Bose" adage.
If you don't mind the set in silver, you can pick up a set of HKTS-14s directly from Harman/Kardon's ebay store (harmanaudio) for under $200 (including shipping). The HKTS-14s are exactly the same except it uses a 12" driver in the subwoofer instead of a 10". - 2008-02-27, 4 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Great value speaker system
- I bought these speakers to pair with my new Onkyo 705 and they sound great. When I'm ready to upgrade the quality of my speakers, these will make a great set for a second room.
Note: they come with wall mounts, but I was looking to put them on stands. The Harman stands are great looking, but expensive. The stands I purchased with "universal" mounts were difficult to install, but did eventually work. - 2008-02-27, 2 of 2 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Awesome
- I ordered these on a friday night, and got them the following thursday. Can't beat 4 day shipping.
These look very aesthetically pleasing. High gloss paint job, modern.
As for the sound, well they sound great, especially for what you're paying. The Sub works great, and the speakers produce pretty accurate sound in my opinion.
I did not try the wall mounting, i got the floor stands. I've heard the wall mounting kit that comes with this isn't so great.
Over all, I'm glad i made this purchase, awesome sound. If this is the first time you're going to have a 5.1 system you're going to be blown away. Sometimes when I'm watching movies i actually look over my shoulder because i think someone's talking to me. Feels great!
Also, another brand with good satellite speakers: JBL - 2008-02-26, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Harman Kardon HKTS-18
- I Harman Kardon Speakers are very nice looking and the workmanship appears to be very good. For the price I paid they are a good speaker. The tweeter sound is not as crisp as I would like to see. The surround speakers are very good looking book shelf speakers and very solid built for small speakers.

- Step a side Bose
- Making this choice was not easy for me. After months of listening and cranking up systems at various stores (yes, that's me trying to blow the speakers, I love it when the salesmen comes over and is trying to say something but you can't hear him. I like to give them that Blueman Group stare),I found what I was looking for. A sexy looking system, crisp sound, room thundering lows and easy on the pocket. While I was considering a Bose system the price kept turning me off--sounds great, price sucks. The HKTS-18 offers a great sounding system at a realistic price. Thanks to Bose's pricing, it kept me in the game a little longer. Long enough to find this gem from Harman Kardon. Very satisfied. Plus shipping from Amazon was amazing. Received the speakers in two days on standard shipping. Nice surprise.
