Bruised and Back in the Saddle

Bruised and Back in the Saddle

Average Customer Rating: Recommend

“Bruised”-I admit to a penchant for “first time” stories and this is one of them. The idea of a previously straight man who finds himself falling for another man is undeniably interesting. David is the somewhat shy virgin and Marcus if the older, more guarded, object of desire. I have three other stories with these two characters rattling around in my head. “Back in the Saddle” was actually written prior to “Bruised”, oddly enough. I think…

Beautifully Written
A beautifully written and bittersweet story of first time love and learning to love again. I grew up in rural Florida and Diamond vividly describes the humid and exotic landscape along with an interesting and erotic look into horse breeding. For me, it's these kind of little details that pull me into a short story.
Marcus, owner of the Leprechaun Farms, has taken a nasty fall off his horse and David is the young pre-vet intern who administers first aid to Marcus' injury. But Marcus is also suffering from a different kind of pain, something David can heal if Marcus would allow it. David is attracted to Marcus, slightly confused over his attraction to another man, but he also senses something deeper is developing between them. Marcus knows exactly what is happening between him and David, and he resists that attraction until Marcus realizes it's time to let go and love again.
Diamond's short is a sensual read, not too explicit, but leaves you with a feeling that this was more than just a roll in the hay for these two men. Check out Vincent Diamond's website for information on an additional Marcus and David story, including where you can find Marcus and Phillip's story of when they first met (a prequel to this short story).
