- The tray is a bit soft for writing but that is easily remedied by using a writing pad or putting a book under the paper. It is a minor trade off for a tray that is safer in the event of an accident. My kids used it for drawing, playing w/ toy cars, and eating. - This is a great product. My two year loves using this to color and do other activities while we travel. We use it in the car and on airplanes. It could be a little sturdier, but it hasn't bothered him at all. Sometimes it bends in the middle when he is putting pressure on it. It does fold quite well.
