wonderful product
I recently moved to NJ area from NY and I was in urgent need of a GPS. You know how crazy drivers are in NJ, and I bought this GPS after reading many reviews about it and also about other similar modelss. The biggest features I liked in this model is that it speaks street names and bluetooth phone.
There are still some glitches in the mapping software as it does not recognize the weired left tern system on RT-1 in new jersey where you can not make left ,instead you have to go forward and then make right and go round and come back (those who live in NJ knows very well what I mean). I hope this will be fixed in new mapping updates in 2009.
I just don't understand why garmin would not give free update of maps every year instead of making you purchase. thats the only downsite of it and that is the reason I gave 4 star

Pretty good product
I have had this item for about 2 months now. MSN direct is limited and not available in all areas, so if you are buying this because of theat service check availability or get the c550 i guess is the one that is identical but w/o the MSN.
The GPS has been great even directing to shortcuts on class 6 dirt roads( I live in NH). All ijn all pleased the POI stores/ restaurants are inaccurate often, but when they are right having the availability of the phone number right on the screen and being able to cll by pressing the screen is an excellent feature.. can make reservations on the way to restaurant if needed.. very pleased so far. started having power issues today may be my connection to the car power plug, will chsck it out tomorrow.

Great GPS System
I was very hesitant to get a GPS system. I then used a Tom Tom and thought maybe I should get one. I read many reviews and decided the Garmin was the best. The C580 is awesome. I don't leave home without it. It eliminated my reluctance to trust in it. It is great at recalculating, it's tells you how long your trip will take before you even get in your car so you can plan your leave time. It's extremely accurate and efficient. I have no regrets in purchasing this product and neither will you. The BEST part, searching for a Mall, finding it on the list, and then pressing GO!!! It's awesome...that's all I can say.

Garmin Street Pilot Portable Navigator with MSN direct
This is the my first GPS unit. So I don't know what is great and what should or should not be. Overall, I am pleased with the unit. It was easy to setup and use. The maps are all preloaded which is good. The point of interest are great. I can find anything I want and get easy directions to their location. I can add my favorites as well. If I miss a turn it will recalculate the trip automatically. I have not used the bluetooth feature but plan to. The MSN direct is easy to use as well. The service will direct your route of travel around traffic. The gas listing I have found very useful. The turn by turn is great, it tells you the street name and therefore you do not have to take your eyes off the road or guess which street if there are many close together. I could not understand the name of some streets because the pronounciation was flawed and sometimes the voice says road or place instead of street and that could be a problem down the road when I really don't know where I am going. But so far it has been a okay.

Garmin StreetPIlotC580 GPS
I was very impressed with the GPS. It takes you exactly where you want to go. This is my first experience witha GPS and it is sooo neat. I got a 2009 map upgrade free with the purchase when I registered it, but had trouble downloading it. It is a file over 2 gig so you really need a fast broadband connection or you should select the option to pay for and get on a DVD. They provided a DVD with the upgrade on because of the problem. I now need to get a DVD player to complete the process.
