- Not what I was expecting from Leatherman, but still very satisfied
- With phrases like 'S30V blade' and 'CNC aluminum handle' and 'rosewood inlay' thrown around in the product description, I was expecting more of a quality feel to this knife. That's not to say you're not getting your money's worth, but it just doesn't have the quality fit/finish one is accustomed with a Leatherman product. Even in the locked position, the blade/bonesaw has a little freeplay; when closing the guthook, the bone saw opens along with the blade. These are very minor nuances. The wood inlay doesn't seem to be treated or coated so I wonder how it will hold up to long-term use in the field. I also wonder how easy this knife will be to clean, considering it technically is a folding knife.
The blade is S30V-typical in its difficulty to sharpen, but it does come with a scary sharpness right out of the box, and holds it well. It is also CNC'd with a 2-step face - I imagine that's for aesthetics but that's just one more aspect which makes this a difficult knife to clean. The bone saw is large and the large handle gives you plenty of leverage. The dark leather sheath is attractive and quite sturdy. The included diamond carbide sharpener is a nice add-on, though it is very small and awkward to use.
