They reluctantly take Uncle Zack in and he proceeds to monopolize the house with his mere silent presence. Jim and Riva, at wit's end, begin to lose it, avoid their own home altogether. A twist at the end, though … a kind of triumph by giving up. I wrote the story after it came to me in a prolonged dream.
