C.M. Ault, who ekes out a living selling paper collectibles at a flea market, is confronted by his friend, Guy, who dreams of financial glory in the world of insurance. The story is about success, what it means, why it's over-rated. Ault winds up with a serene, easy girlfriend that Guy can only dream of. Story becomes a bit surreal when it's invaded by the Dionne Quintuplets as they appear in old Karo Syrup ads in magazines. I wrote this story because I too dabble in paper collectibles. It's a fringe business, the mercantile underground of the USA - and if you go for it, you must accept poverty and low status. But something good may come along when you least expect it, requiring only that you give up on big dreams.
