Good Meeting Recorder
Bought this for minutes in our meetings...it works great and plays back at varied speeds so you don't miss anything. The size is perfect and unobtrusive.

folders
I suspect I am just not used to folders. However it does pick up a good voice level. I tried in a Tai Chi saber workshop last week to use in a pocket, to record the instructor it was muffled. Best used in the open which I did do today in recording the saber steps. So - only one folder was needed. Will study the folders more.

Poor Support
I bought an Olympus W-10 a few years ago. Not a bad device, but when I tried to install software on my new Vista laptop, Olympus told me "Too bad. Your device is just outdated." And, "No, we don't have any plans of supporting your device on Windows Vista". I think that says it all. Unless you want to buy one of these every few years.

No Conversion to Audio CD
Surprisingly small, light and inexpensive. I purchased the Olympus VN-4100PC to record interviews which I intended to transfer to audio CD. I was disappointed to learn (a bit too late) that neither the software shipped with this unit nor any of the media programs on my computer will convert the peculiar recording format (CELP+ADPCM) to an audio CD. Other than that major disappointment, it works well.

Caution: It's magnetized!
Pros: Captures sound well. Lots of space.
Cons: No means to move files off device. Only 3 speeds to play back. The "fast" pace is still a bit slow for me. The device contains a magnet! You can't store this in your pocket, briefcase or backpack near your credit cards, USB drives or laptop!
