Our closest relatives, chimpanzees, share over 99% of the same DNA with us. Like us, they use plants for medicine, go to war, and mourn their dead. Some even make“pilgrimages” to sit before awesome waterfalls. But no chimpanzee society is founded on faith and no prophet of the apes has revealed a divine path for fellow chimps to follow. There's only one primate species whose very essence is spiritual. That's us we are the sacred apes. In evolutionary terms, we've come a long way in a really short time. I'm an Interfaith Minister and my aim is to tell you the whole story, without bias, and to share the sheer delight I've found in exploring where we human beings have come from, where we're at, and the phenomenal potential we hold for spiritual evolution. I pray that reading this piece gives you a wholly and holy new way to see and understand yourself and every sacred ape on the planet.
