Product itself works really well
This product is great: It works really well and since I bought it, they have upgraded it to Version 2 which was in Beta when I first used it. It wlll pick up your installation of Boot Camp without a hitch, in fact you will be amazed at how easy it is to use. The explanations of how to use it are however deeply flawed: I haven't managed to figure out how to share files between operating systems yet despite there being a check box 'share files between OSs' which doesn't seem to do anything.
Don't however think you are going to be able to install Linux however. This still needs quite a lot of polishing and when I did manage to install in the Beta (working from a CD, - it wouldn't install into a VM on the HDD), not much of the hardware would work.
VMWare support involves you sending them an email and their indian support centre (which doesnt seem to know much about the product beyond what is stated on the support site) responding within a few days with not much substance in the seemingly canned response. The response, if you are interested, is that VMWare is only really certified to work with quite elderly versions of Linux and even if you try the ones people have put on their site, (and there is no way of ascertaining whether they are for Fusion or some other VMWare product), you are on your own.
Now VMWare seems to tell its own customers to go to SmithMicro for technical support on its product! I am entirely not sure what this means.

Excellent VM Software
I worked with VMWare for the first time as a contractor to setup an application server enviroment in the past and was impressed by it. So when I finally decieded it was time to make the switch from a PC to a Mac at home; I went with VMWare Fusion rather then Parallals so I could still have access to Windows for work purposes.
I was very satisfied when I easily installed Windows XP through an upgrade disk (FYI, you will need a copy of Windows ME, 98 etc). All you have to do is disconnect the CD/DVD drive from your VM session when the Windows XP installer ask for an older copy of Windows to verify you are eligible for an upgrade. After the older version of Windows is in place, connect the CD\DVD drive back to the VM session. Then let the installer verify the upgrade. Finally repeat the process to put the Windows XP upgrade disk back in the CD\DVD drive to complete the install. No need to plunk down 170 bucks for the full version of Windows XP.
After I installed Windows XP, it functioned like any other Windows XP OS I have installed on a stand alone PC. I was able to upgrade to SP3 & IE7 through Windows Update. The most important thing for me was to be able to successfully install OpenVPN and connect to my part time job; I was not let down. I succesffully installed and configured OpenVPN just like I have in the past for a stand alone PC with Windows XP.
I love how you can run both Leopard and Windows at the same time without even knowing the other one exist. I hardly see a hit in performance if any at all as I switch back and forth with ease. Oh and get this, I'm doing this on a $949 2nd gen mini-mac with a dual core 2.0 ghz CPU & 2GB of ram; not some $3,000 Mac Pro.
I can now use Windows XP as a tool for work rather then overloading it with work & play. Basically, VMWare Fusion downgrades Windows XP from an OS to an application running on my Mac.
5 stars because it works, it's easy to use and has an excellent price point!

Great product!
This product works as described. I've installed it on an iMac 24" machine and have had no problems at all. I'm running Vista 32-bit Business edition without issues.
One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to be geared to graphics/gaming when running Vista within the virtual machine. Some memory setting tweaks seem to be necessary to get the program to run smoothly depending on what apps one may be using.
I installed this mainly to run finance and spreadsheets in the windows environment but other general apps seem to work smoothly as well. I've had no crashes or hang ups.
I'm quite pleased and would recommend without reservation.
Additionally, the response to inquiries by VMWare are timely and accurate.

Does as promised
I am a Mac user, but have to use Windows for work (as a teacher). I prefer to prepare on my laptop and project from that to avoid transferring files, dealing with different settings, etc. I did my research and VMware had the best reviews of the virtual software. It is easier to use than Virtual PC and has been very stable. I also like being able to run both platforms simultaneously. Glad to have this for the times I have to enter the Windows world.

Awesome!!
While the instructions for installation in the book might seem a little confusing it was actually very simple to install on my mac! I had not run the boot camp partition to add windows yet so it was a fairly quick install. Not sure how it goes if you have already created a seperate drive w/boot camp but the instructions are in the book. This is great for new mac users who still have windows only software they like or wish to use ex: quicken or other such software! I love my mac so far & am glad to incorporate some of the windows apps which I am familiar with!!
