- Fantastic picture
- The picture quality on this set is amazing especially on the Hi Def 1080i broadcasts. I am very happy so far with this purchase. Now it's a matter of seeing how well the set continues to operate as it gets older. The shipper was actually able to deliver the set before the estimated delivery date so I was able to enjoy it on Christmas Day.

- Great System - beats Samsung in my opinion
- After doing months of research on Sharp vs. the Samsung models I settled on the Sharp. I couldn't be happier. The unit has as many inputs and what appears to be a very similar picture quality to the Samsung units.
I was very afraid to commit to 120hz with the Samsung models and seeing the picture on the Sharp truly convinced me that going with Sharp was the right decision.
The cost was better and the menu interface seems superior on this unit as well. The only disappointment is the lack of a swivel base. - 2008-01-14, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Sharp right out of the Box
- This is my first LCD TV purchase and I spent dozens of hours checking them out online at Amazon, Circuit City and Consumer Reports. I even went to Best Buy and looked at them all side-by-side. I wanted something a little larger but had to compromise with my wife for one that would fit in the armoire (fancy french word for T.V. cabinet).
It arrived on New Year's Eve but we had to go out so I couldn't set it up. On New Year's Day I set it up so I could watch the Bowl Games. It only took me about 20 minutes to take it out of the box and hook it up. I add already gone to the cable company and picked up a HD DVR with HDMI cables so I was ready to go. I turned it on and the picture was perfect. I didn't need to do any calibration or adjustments - just perfection.
The only problem was there was no sound. I called Sharp and amazingly they answered right away on New Year's Day! They told me to unplug everything and wait an hour. If that didn't solve the problem then they would have to send a tech. I waited an hour, hooked it back up and . . . no sound. Just when I was going to give up I figured out I had to set the audio output on the cable box to HDMI output. I now had sound.
That leads to my only complaint. The sound is not very good. That doesn't matter much to me because I hooked it up to my surround sound.
All-in-all I am extremely happy with the picture and I have tinkered with it some now. My cable output is only 1080i but it is still a beautiful picture. I have watched some movies through my new Toshiba HD DVD player (1080p) and they were great.
For the price I payed I don't think I could have done any better. - 2008-01-13, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Thanks every one for your reviews
- Before I went for Sharp Aquos LC42D64U 42" LCD I did some research about technologically best LCD TVs. The most balanced reviews I got were from all great reviewers like you. Thank You! I'm totally pleased with my purchase. It works great and looks beautiful. I never knew the difference between 62U and 64U till I read a review how it is superior. Most big super stores don't even tell you what the model number is. For them, its like enough to say Sharp Aquos 42" LCD but at Amazon (and some other websites), they tell you the model number and complete technical information about product.

- Six months to find the right HDTV
- we shopped for six months to find an HDTV that was of a good enough quality to suit our tastes. Most other TV's had some picture quality problem that was very clear to us. The Sharp Aquos had none of these problems. The only other unit that was this good in this size cost an additional $700.00.
If I were going to add any thing to this set, it would be additional input and output jacks other than the HDMI (we used our old Amp and DVD Players)Sharp Aquos LC42D64U 42" 1080p LCD HDTV. The case and stand are of the best quality we have seen. The packing was very adequate and the Amazon delivery was perfect. You may pay a few dollars less at some online stores but you will not get this service and quality of delivery. Even the box looked as if it were just packaged at the factory.
We have now had this unit for over a month and it meets all our expectations.
Thank you Amazon.com and Sharp Aquos! - 2008-01-07, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
