LOVE IT!
Well, considering I have only previously had either Lexmark (great to use as a doorstop!) or HP for all my printers, I was hesitant to try another brand. I tend to be almost too brand loyal, even if I'm getting less than what I expected. Must be a comfortability thing..LOL....but I digress...
THIS PRINTER ROCKS!!!!! I absolutely LOVE this awesome bit of techie gadgetry! I am not a professional reviewer, a desk jockey, or someone who has the time and money to waste to keep trying new things for the home.
I can't even begin to use all the features it has, but for everything I have used, I am seriously impressed. Speed, quality, accuracy, networking, wireless...all fantastic. Have not used it yet for photo prints except on cheap paper, so I don't think I can give it a fair review on that except to say that I thought it looked good anyway.
The dual sided printing and dual paper tray features are very handy..I also quite like that you can keep the front door closed so it doesn't gather dust, as it will open automatically when you are printing something.( the cats enjoy the "surprise") The LCD screen is very easy to see and understand..as close to "point and shoot" as I could say. Some things may be tricky to some folks, but again, I am no office utility pro yet I have not had too much difficulty once I take the time to READ about it! LOL.
7 ink tanks...wow. BUT, the nice part is that you dont have to go buying them all at once, making this more affordable for someone like me who doesn't really enjoy dropping $40.00 on a multicolor ink tank that I really only needed for one color.
All in all, I have not yet found anything to complain about...nor have the other 2 people in my home who use it wirelessly. So, in summary, this gets a 6 thumbs and 24 paws up review! The cats especially enjoy it for the large, toasty surface it provides for sleeping, hanging off of, spying, skidding across, and paper chasing.

I just remember
After a lizard got into my Epson all in one and made a permanent jam. ( I live in Florida ) I started to shop around for a new one. A friend recommended the Canon Pixma MP970 and told me he could get me free photo paper and it had the lowest ink cost ( This is the I remember part ). I started to read reviews and most were favorable ones. The clincher was the $[...] D rebate. Now the I remember part. I used to have a Cannon all in one, not only did I have to replace the ink but also the ink cradle at $[...] dollars a pop. It did not matter how many times you used it but after a period of time it needs to be replaced. Consumer Reports magazine also brought this fact up. Cannon I believe is the only printer that you need to do this. So if you are shopping ink prices you need to take this fact into consideration.I also read that you can down load software from Canon Europe to print on disc.
Pro. I have made copies of pictures from my cruise and they are beautiful. You would be hard press to tell the differece between it and the original.
Con. The black print is too greyish but I have not played around with the settings. No fax. The need to replace the cradle ( I do not know how much it will be for this model)No document feeder and it is noisier than my Epson was.

Canon Pixma MP970 All-In-One
I purchased this printer about a month ago and am in love with it. I researched for several months before I decided on this one. It is fast, quiet, and prints excellent photos. So far, my ink level is still good. I read reviews on HP, Epson, & Canon and for the price, it was the best choice. I'm an HP person but now I'm a Canon convert. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great all-in-one photo printer. It prints documents also very fast and it's very user friendly.

A Great AIO
I was leaning toward a printer only when I found I could get a better printer plus a scanner and copier built in. It then became a no brainer. I have printed several photos with the printer. The one that came from a 5 mp digital camera was incredible. I am very happy with this AIO. Canon tech support is also excellent. I was swayed to them by my experiences with them and with a competitor. All in all, I'm very happy with this AIO and highly recommend it.

Best ink jet printer so far
I've had a few ink jet printers, whose troubles have been primarily that they are "light-weight" machines that develop problems readily. The Canon Pixma MP970 All-in-One is a solid machine with some heft to it. It is smooth-running and the print quality is excellent. Set-up can be accomplished by anyone with minimal experience around a computer.
The photo printing is particularly impressive, yielding high-quality prints with colors true to the original digital photo.
In terms of controls and displays, everything is simple and straight-forward. The main display is particularly clear and large enough to read easily. It pops up from the top of the printer and faces you, so that you can stay in your chair to view it. The paper feeds are smooth, and the multiple ink cartridges allow you to replace particular cartridges, instead of replacing one all-color more expensive cartridge. Highly recommended.
