- Great program at an even greater price!
- I'd been thinking of purchasing that "really expensive photo program" (Adobe PhotoShop) so that I could work with my photos in RAW format.
I've been using PaintShop Pro products for many years, and hated the idea of learning a whole new photo program. Paint Shop has always been quite user friendly without the need to spend hours and hours learning how to work with my photos.
I googled "RAW format + Paint Shop Pro" a few months ago and found this product. I'm more than happy with it and I'm glad that I don't have to spend tons of time and money learning a new system of working my photos.
I went to a photo shoot this past weekend and was able to download over 2,500 RAW format digital photos in no time!
Don't let the low price fool you - this program has a lot of capabilities. It's well worth it to try for those who especially don't have the time to take a class on how to work with PhotoShop or try to decipher the instructions in a book! - 2008-08-18, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- A Great New Version of PSP
- I'm an old time PSP user, going back to the first version and I always reluctantly upgrade this program, because working with a familiar version of PSP is like wearing a comfortable pair of old shoes. And I was perfectly happy with PSP9. But after I downloaded PSPX2 to experiment with the new features, I was instantly hooked. I love the new photo and makeover features. It took me a few days to get used to the difference between version 7 and 9, but going from version 9 to this version was easy and comfortable as they left the integrity of the earlier version intact without moving too much around.
I see that someone said in another review that this is a bloated version. That's incorrect. This is a greatly improved version with a lot of features that are useful to photo editing and other types of graphical work. I know that I will use these features every day in my work. And I believe that previous and new users of PSP will love this program. I can't recommend it highly enough. - 2008-08-09, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Corel customer support is AWFUL
- So I have been using the software for a couple of months now. It still freezes now and then, but I am getting used to it and have found some features that I am enjoying. I purchased it because they touted the ease of downloading photos. The feature where you can pick and choose which photos to download from the camera just plain doesn't work.
The Corel tech person was rude beyond belief, and wanted my credit card number before I could ask any questions other than the initial set up. How can a company treat it's customers so badly while staying in business is beyond me. - 2008-08-08, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Good product, but likes to crash
- I think it the best featured photo editor under $600. The only thing more powerful (and only slightly) is Photoshop CS3. This will do pretty much everything you could ever need. I think it could easily replace Photoshop for 99% of the users out there. The only complaint I have (and it is a big one) is that it crashes on me about 1 out of 5 times, causing me to lose time and my work. Very frustrating to have your perfect photo 99% done and have the program lock up. I also have had an error from a program called "CorelIOMonitor" crash and error out, or take up lots of CPU when Paint Shop is not even running. I know it is from this product because that is my only Corel product on this computer. So while I love the product, the bugginess and instability is making me want to look elsewhere.
Pros:
-Excellent feature set for the price. Tons more power than Photoshop Elements.
-Nice interface
-Express Lab
-Cool Effects
-Time Machine
-HDR Photomerge
-Price
Cons:
-requires a big monitor. Using a 17" Square monitor with this is a joke and gives you a tiny square to work with. Looks awesome with lots of space on a big widescreen. I'd say you need a 19" or above, preferably widescreen.
-Needs lots of Computer power. Runs awesome on my Quad core system with 3GB of RAM, Pretty slow on my single core 2.4 with 1GB of ram.
-Crashes way too often
-Seems to run other stuff in the background even when you aren't running PSP X2 that are also unstable.
For the price I paid and the feature set, I'll probably keep it, but I am thinking about another more stable product for my main editor so I don't lose work. - 2008-08-08, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Very disappointed
- I first downloaded PSP X2 from the Corel web site on the internet. My computer crashed, so I decided to purchase the program. Then I had not used it maybe 5 times, and it locked up and would not even allow the most simple funtions (to crop and edit a photograph). Went to Corel web site download a patch, that only made matters worse, then I could not even open PSP or uninstall it. I used the older PSP and loved it. I'm extremely disappointed in this PSP X2!!! Needs a lot of work & improvements! After weeks (literally) of going back and forth with Corel, I finally have it back on my computer, but I've not even tried to use it. It will open, that's all I can say at this point.
